Makambep20
Age: 4|  Weight: 9-11| J: Joey Haynes| T: C Banham| OR:  71| CD
9/2
C&D winner who came up short when bidding for a hat-trick over the same track/trip last time but wasn't disgraced behind Fancy Footings (runs later on the card). Not particularly well placed in that race he has to be respected off the same mark.

Momtalik22
Age: 4|  Weight: 9-11| J: Jason Hart| T: D Shaw| OR:  71
20/1
Lightly-raced (only had five Flat runs); not disgraced when second in a C&D maiden last time (first run for this yard). Doesn't look that well handicapped and faces a stiff enough task especially as a return to further would suit him better.

Love Your Work29
Age: 3|  Weight: 9-7| J: Charlie Bennett| T: A West| OR:  69| CD
9/1
Dual C&D winner earlier in the season (both wins off higher marks) and confirmed that he's at his best on this surface last time with a respectable fourth. Form associated with several of these rivals and likely to run a sound race on this surface.

Arrives in good form having worked his way into form for this yard showing his best last time when third at Nottingham having received some respite from the handicapper. May need a further ease in the weights to be effective; Fibresand debut.

Muqarredb20
Age: 7|  Weight: 9-5| J: Gemma Tutty(3)| T: K Tutty| OR:  65| CD
20/1
Five-time C&D winner who made the most of all fall in the weights to score here in September (blinkers refitted). Given a hefty rise for that win (8lb); failed to cope with his subsequent mark in three outings here; quirky, not easy to catch right.

Bond Angel4
Age: 4|  Weight: 9-5| J: Laura Pearson(7)| T: P D Evans| OR:  65| CD
9/1
Five-time course winner (three C&D); well supported when winning over C&D in October off a 3lb lower mark. Not in the same form since underperforming in a better grade over C&D and finding the trip (1m1f) too testing at Wolverhampton last time.

Jem Scuttlet49
Age: 3|  Weight: 9-4| J: T Eaves| T: D Carroll| OR:  66
16/1
Has become disappointing with a return to the AW last time failing to reignite his fortunes when well beaten at Newcastle (7f). Yet to have been tested on this surface but hard to countenance a victory on his recent performances.

Dove Divine42
Age: 3|  Weight: 9-4| J: R Havlin| T: H Morrison| OR:  66
11/1
Lightly-raced maiden from a yard that do well here who shaped quite well on her latest AW outing at Kempton (7f) despite not being seen to best effect. Has to prove herself on this surface but a relatively unexposed sort; not a market move.

Silverturnstogoldb9
Age: 4|  Weight: 9-0| J: Elisha Whittington(7)| T: A W Carroll| OR:  60| C| D
5/2
Consistent handicapper who gained a well deserved reward for a string of placed efforts with a 7f win here last time (took to the surface well). Looks improved with blinkers, escapes a penalty (second has franked the form since); shortlisted.

Melgate Majeure26

14/1
Goes ell at Newcastle losing his unbeaten record there last time but far from disgraced returning from a six week break. May well have needed that start and capable at this trip and beyond; chance if he takes to this different surface.

Break The Silenceb18
Age: 5|  Weight: 8-11| J: Barry McHugh| T: S Dixon| OR:  57| BF| C| D
10/1
Three-time winner on Fibresand but in truth struggles to see out the 1m trip here (0-15, placed five times). Hit the frame once more here over 7f last time, will give a good account, likely to be the usual story of being placed at best over C&D.

Forecasts

Silverturnstogold (5/2), Makambe (9/2), Gleeful (5/1), Bond Angel (9/1), Love Your Work (9/1), Break The Silence (10/1), Equidae (10/1), Dove Divine (11/1), Thorn (11/1), Melgate Majeure (14/1), Jem Scuttle (16/1), Momtalik (20/1), Muqarred (20/1)

Verdict

Plenty of form on Fibresand on display in what should turn out to be an informative and competitive contest. This grade will require more from Silverturnstogold but it’s hard to knock his recent course victory with the second having already franked the form although he does have with this better grade. Love Your Work will appreciate running here again with Melgate Majeure one to be respected on his Fibresand debut, his sire (Lethal Force) has an excellent record with his progeny here. MAKAMBE has top weight but wasn’t disgraced here last time when coming from a poor position and he’s taken to defy this mark and gain some compensation.
  1. Makambe
  2. Silverturnstogold
  3. Melgate Majeure
