Consistent gelding showed good form in finishing runner-up in a valuable claiming handicap over this C&D last month. Races off a 1lb higher mark here and is interesting having won over C&D in the past.
C&D winner has finished well held in two starts on turf since returning from a break including when 31L 11th at Newmarket (1m, soft) at the start of this month. Return to the AW a positive off a mark 5lb lower than for his most recent victory.
Recorded effort in finishing fourth in a seven runner handicap at Newmarket (7f, good-to-firm) in September. Given a break since and he is worth a check in the market on his return.
Completed a hat-trick when winning over this trip at Newmarket (good-to-firm) in June. Likely to have improved for his recent fourth place finish when returning from a break.
Made all when winning over 7f here in February last year but struggled later that month on only subsequent start. Probably best watched on return from a lengthy absence.
Finished sixth on both starts since winning over 7f at Haydock (soft) in September. Interesting to see how he performs off a mark 2lb higher than for that Haydock victory.
Registered a first victory when taking a 7f maiden at this track in August and followed up by 5L over the same trip at Newbury (good-to-firm) on handicap debut the following month. Steps up in trip following an 11lb rise in the weights.
Placed on both starts since winning over an extended 7f at Beverley (good) in August. Beaten 3L when runner-up at Musselburgh (7f, soft) on the most recent of those and he represents a top yard on AW debut.
Ended his time with Chris Wall with a 3¼L victory over 1m4f here in November 2017. Changed yards since and this distance looks on the sharp side on his return from a nearly two years off the track.
Handicap mark is falling following some disappointing efforts this year including when last of six over 1m2f at Chelmsford in early September. Worth a check in the market having placed off much higher marks in the past.
Dual turf winner has finished held on his last three outings however including when 11th over 7f in first time cheekpieces (absent here) at this track last month. Others appear to hold stronger claims.
Narrowly beaten in a 7f handicap at Yarmouth (good-to-firm) in August. Cheekpieces worn when disappointing over this C&D subsequently absent for this contest.
C&D winner in February was returning from a break when finishing a good second in a C&D handicap earlier this month. Races off the same mark here and is worth a check in the market with a top jockey booked to ride.
Well held in two starts over this C&D since joining this stable. Handicap mark is falling as a result and market support would be notable in this event.
Forecasts
Montatham (9/4), Ouzo (7/2), Bear Force One (6/1), Young Fire (8/1), Glendevon (11/1), Pinnata (12/1), Glenn Coco (16/1), Humbert (20/1), Gentle Look (25/1), Samphire Coast (33/1), Entangling (50/1), Masked Identity (50/1), Bobby Wheeler (66/1), Golden Wolf (100/1)
HUMBERT boasts an impressive record of four wins from six AW starts and the return to this venue can see him register his third C&D victory in this competitive looking handicap. The selection has won off higher marks in the past and has a decent draw in stall seven here and he can see off his rivals with Montatham, a good second on turf last time out capable of chasing him home. Third place can go to the progressive Bear Force One who came home clear of his rivals on his most recent start.
- Humbert
- Montatham
- Bear Force One
