2lb higher than her last winning mark with her last four successes coming at this track. Well beaten last two starts at Chester but gets a big drop in class and could bounce back at this track.

Held his form lately and backed up his C&D win from August with a near miss back here last month; nudged up 1lb but still competitive from his current mark; has to be on the shortlist.

Beverley win in July ended a lengthy losing run. Returned in good form at Pontefract following a break and could be ready to take advantage of a lower AW mark.

Has been a bit below her best over further but gets a welcome drop in trip and a reliable performer. Handicapper is giving her a real chance now.

On same mark as last leg of Chelmsford hat-trick. However below par there last start and needs to be back to form in a competitive contest.

Some promise in all three starts to date and now makes handicap debut. Some improvement needed off this opening mark.

One win from 12 for Mark Tompkins but she lost her way for that stable. Probably best watched on stable debut following a break.

Won a novice and promise in handicaps in her juvenile campaign but three well beaten efforts this year raises concerns.

Former course winner remains on a competitive mark but proving inconsistent of late on turf and while capable, remains hard to predict.

High Gloss21
Age: 3|  Weight: 9-3| J: Daniel Muscutt| T: J R Fanshawe| OR:  63

Has struggled to get involved in three well held efforts so far. Needs to improve considerably off this opening mark on handicap debut.

Charlie Arthur13

Consistent performer of late on an AW surface and 5L second over 1m4f here last start. Ran to a similar level over 1m2f when winning at Chelmsford and should be involved again.

Thawry11
Age: 4|  Weight: 9-2| J: Cam Hardie| T: A Brittain| OR:  58

Not far away the last twice including over this C&D and on a good mark at present. An infrequent winner but holds place possibilities.

Cheap Jack216
Age: 3|  Weight: 9-2| J: Raul Da Silva| T: Ronald Thompson| OR:  62
66/1
Seven-race maiden has been racing as though he needs this step up in distance but has looked lacking a turn of acceleration. Still can't be dismissed.

Forecasts

Charlie Arthur (7/2), Billy Roberts (9/2), Velvet Vision (7/1), Thawry (17/2), First Dance (9/1), Enzo (10/1), Maldonado (12/1), Compass Point (16/1), Bell Heather (16/1), High Gloss (18/1), The Grey Goat (20/1), Mrs Hoo (50/1), Cheap Jack (66/1)

Verdict

There's a fair few chances in an open race. Bell Heather needs to leave a couple of poor runs behind but that's more than likely at her preferred venue and down in grade. Enzo is in top form of late and likely to go close again but a chance is taken with BILLY ROBERTS who gets to race off a lower mark on an AW surface that he has proven suited by previously.
  1. Billy Roberts
  2. Bell Heather
  3. Enzo
