4-27 and has won from 5f-6½f, including on soft. Runner-up in Listed company at Ayr last time, and very competitive from today's mark. Draw not ideal, but can't rule him out.
3-9 so far (all wins 5f) including two on soft. Ready winner at York last week in 0-95 handicap. This is tougher, and his draw is not ideal, but still looks a big player.
4-12 on turf, and handles soft, although all wins have 'good' in the going description. Went close when 1lb lower in a 0-105 at York (5½f, good) two starts back. Not far away at Doncaster last time. Respected, but probably wants it a bit drier.
Mudlark who is 7lb higher than the most recent of his five wins, which came at Ripon (6f) in June. Has had more success over that trip than this (one win) and things could happen a bit quickly for him at this slightly higher level.
Triple winner over 5f. 2L second to Moss Gill at York (5f, soft) last time out. Up 2lb for that, but 6lb better off with his reopposing rival, so enters calculations from a good draw.
Soft ground 6f winner who is 3lb lower than when last scoring at Beverley in April. Back to form last time when ¾L third in a big field Ascot handicap. Up just 1lb for that, and a big player if overcoming his draw.
Won this race in 2014 (soft) and has been a standing dish in similarly competitive sprint handicaps for years. Still good enough to win two of them already this season, and looks a player from a dangerous mark.
Heavy ground winner (5f) at Chester in May. 1lb higher here, but more needed than we have seen from her of late.
Multiple winner on good/good to soft ground, all over 5f. 4lb higher than the last of those, but struggled in a 0-95 at Leicester last time, and this is tougher.
4-18 (all 5f, including on good to soft). Back on a winning mark, but genuine soft ground would be a concern for her.
2-15 so far. Ran well on soft at Chester in June, but looks likely to be outclassed by some of this field.
2-44 and without a win for over three years. Hard to see him breaking that losing streak in this company.
Last win came over this trip at Thirsk in August, when 10lb lower. Has run well but still been held from lower marks on his last two, and hard to recommend him from out of the handicap.
Arrives seeking a hat-trick after two heavy ground successes at Nottingham in a 0-75 and then a 0-85. Carries 5lb penalty for the latter, but still 1lb 'wrong' and he will do well to add another win in a field of this quality.
Forecasts
Moss Gill (5/2), Count D'Orsay (5/1), Wrenthorpe (7/1), Makanah (8/1), Hyperfocus (10/1), Arecibo (14/1), She Can Boogie (14/1), Broken Spear (18/1), Four Wheel Drive (20/1), Teruntum Star (20/1), Free Love (20/1), Dark Shot (22/1), Duke Of Firenze (50/1), Hawaam (50/1)
An interesting handicap, and while the draw can often favour low numbers in sprints here, there appears to be plenty of speed drawn down the stands' side. Last week's York winner MOSS GILL did his job well and he is given the nod here, as there looked to be more to come. Terentum Star and former winner Duke Of Firenze are both feared, while Aricebo is not ruled out. If the track does favour the inside, then Count D'Orsay could have a big say in the outcome.
- Moss Gill
- Duke Of Firenze
- Count D'Orsay
