Southwell maiden winner (6f, AW) on his penultimate start was his best so far. Not far off that level back there over 7f last time. Vulnerable to something less exposed, but should still be very competitive if he can make the most of an inside draw.

25-1 and put up a respectable effort on debut at Southwell (6f, AW) last month. Can build on that here if handling soft.

Half-brother to three winners over sprint trips, two of them as juveniles. Dam also a 5f-6f winner, including on soft. Interesting pedigree. Stable quiet enough at present, but a market check is suggested.

5-1 and ran well on debut when 1¾L second in a Hamilton novice event (6f, soft) last month. Has a wide draw to contend with, but looks a leading player.

Went close at both Redcar and Beverley (both 5f, the latter on soft) in his first two starts. Step up to 6f should be no problem and with a good draw here, he should have a big say again.

Made a pleasing debut here over C&D (good to firm) last month. Perhaps his more recent Pontefract run (5f) may have come a little too soon. Has to bounce back from that, but can't rule that out. Unraced on soft.

€32,000 foal, £12,000 2yo. Sixth foal. Half-brother to winners Stormin Tom (1m2f-2m), Galeola (1m4f-1m7f) and Perfectly Fair (Greek 6½f-7¾f) dam unraced half-sister to two Italian Listed winners. Stable not noted for debut 2yo winners.

Not devoid of promise on debut, but took a backward step last time. Probably of greater interest when she has a handicap mark to work with.

£40,000 yearling. Fifth foal. Half-sister to winners Red Balloons (5f/6f 2yo), Revel (1m AW) & Dutch Archer (5f). Dam 5f turf 2yo/6f AW winner. Represents top stable that is 14% with 2yos this season, and could go well on her debut.

12-1 and although held by the winner, she did well to finish 3¾L second at Ripon on her debut (5f, soft) in June. Has been given time since then, and from a good draw, she looks a potential contender here.

Forecasts

Jump The Gun (2/1), Leoch (9/4), Rebel Soldier Boy (9/2), Felicia Blue (7/1), Stittenham Wood (14/1), Seas Of Elzaam (18/1), Cuban Affair (20/1), Where's Mick (40/1), Brass Clankers (40/1), Gowanlad (50/1), Apache Bay (66/1), Belle Voci (100/1)

Verdict

Jump The Gun has had several chances and this counts as another, with an inside draw a potential positive that could help him break his duck. However, he remains vulnerable and there are a few in this race who could potentially lower his colours. Richard Fahey's pair Felicia Blue (preferred) and debutante Cuban Affair are both of interest, as are the David O'Meara-trained duo Seas Of Elzaam and REBEL SOLDIER BOY. The latter has a good draw here and can make it third time lucky now upped in trip. Leoch looks a potential threat if handling a trickier gate.
