Made a promising if slightly quirky debut when with Roger Charlton as a 2yo but went backwards when next seen this season as a 3yo for this yard (7f, AW). May well have needed that but comes here with questions to answer.

Given a considerate 3yo introduction (took strong hold, 6f, AW) early last month but took a backward step when making a quick return. Will gain a mark after this with handicaps in mind although he'll need to settle better.

Made the frame in all four starts; should really have closed the deal when making his handicap debut in June (looked rather weak in the finish, not for the first time). First time that he's been on ground this deep; finishing travails spell danger.

A 0-9 record for this ex-Goldolphin sort means that he's been disappointing since showing some promise on his debut in a York maiden. Didn't run too badly in an AW handicap (penultimate start), excused a below-par run last time.

Didn't really make any forward progress from his debut (7f, Tapeta) when tried over the same trip on the same surface but this time at Newcastle. Hasn't looked an easy ride on either occasion (pulled hard last time); sort for handicaps over further.

Gone with little encouragement on both AW starts especially when moving up to 1m. Drops in trip for today's turf debut; hopes can't be high though.

Slow away on her AW debut over 7f and always outpaced, started at 66-1. Conditions will be very different here stepping back to 6f; can only be watched.

Well fancied almost default on her debut at Catterick (6f, soft) but did make some appeal on pedigree, she showed plenty of inexperience. Brought back to 5f (AW) for her second attempt (among the first beaten); something to prove now.

Finished down the field in a Class 6 handicap recently (7f, AW) bring her record to 0-9, did shape better than the distance she was beaten. Coped with soft ground when running respectably at Goodwood over 6f earlier in the year; each-way player.

Had some fair form as a 2yo but hasn't really gone on from that this year on turf/AW (tried at up to 7f). Reverts to maiden company after a long absence with enough to prove on what she's shown so far; hood now removed.

Forecasts

Lofty (1/1), Mrs Worthington (11/4), Doubly Beautiful (5/1), Festina (16/1), True Belief (20/1), Shaffire (20/1), Hellovasinger (33/1), Maqboola (40/1), Moudallal (50/1), Jane Camille (100/1)

Verdict

This isn’t a strong contest and on form the most solid option is Lofty but his finishing effort has disappointed on each occasion plus we have still to find out how he will handle this testing surface. With all that taking into consideration it may well be worth taking an each-way shot at MRS WORTHINGTON who was unfortunate on her most recent start and appeared to handle soft ground well enough when tried on the surface before. With most of the field having questions to answer this isn’t a race to get heavily involved in although it will be interesting to see how Festina fares with a view the future along with Doubly Beautiful and Hellovasinger.
  1. Mrs Worthington
  2. Lofty
  3. Hellovasinger
