Course winner over 5f last August; returns to this surface in good form having won at Lingfield (5f) already this year prior to producing a career-best last time over 6f here. Ran into a well handicapped individual and sure to make presence felt.

Yet to experience this surface (by the same sire as Requited, already a winner here); has produced some consistent efforts of late. Well served by forcing tactics at Thirsk last time (6f), can be slow away though; handicapper looks in control.

Twice a C&D winner off higher marks on both occasions most recently in February. Looks to have rather lost his way of late on turf and connections will be hoping a return to his favoured surface will suit and rejuvenate him.

Fibresand newcomer; half sister to AW winners (one on this surface) so should act here. Appears to be heading in the right direction of late with a drop in grade seeing her win at Chelmsford; ran well again there last time; shortlist material.

Selling winner earlier in the year at Thirsk (6f) for David O'Meara (sold out of that race for £12,000). Four starts for this yard have failed to reach that same level of form (no better after a wind op); first try on Fibresand, others appeal more.

Proved that she can act on this unique surface (second and fifth) with perhaps her recent run being better than the final placing suggested (raced too close to a strong pace). First time that she's really fired this season; one to consider.

Plenty of experience here despite only winning once on the surface over 7f; has won over this distance on turf but hasn't tried it this year. Below form on his last two starts (both here), blinkers retained; needs to find some of his old form.

Uninspiring form figures here (0955) and with a career record that reads 1-25 he's not the soundest of propositions. Only had two runs for this yard but only showed modest improvement in that, comes here with questions still to answer.

First crack at handicaps moving onto this surface for the first time having shown very little ability so far. Hard to build a solid case for him even with first-time blinkers applied; would need considerable market support to be of interest.

Maiden status remains intact after 16 Flat starts with two fifth places on this surface to his name at 7f (showed some vague promise on each occasion). Offered little when last seen on turf (6f); not hard to put several before him.

C&D winner but that win has come via 10 starts here and he's shown very little of late on turf. Blinkers used on last four runs appear to have very little effect (wins have come in cheekpieces); back to 6f after two attempts at 5f; flimsy claims.

Forecasts

Requited (2/1), Senorita Grande (3/1), Essenza (13/2), Fairy Fast (7/1), Bee Machine (16/1), Always Amazing (16/1), Champagne Mondays (20/1), Newstead Abbey (20/1), The Gingerbreadman (28/1), Murqaab (33/1), Thespinningwheel (66/1)

Verdict

Previous 5f winner REQUITED showed that there was still mileage in him off this mark when running well in a similar contest over C&D last time out giving the well-in winner of that race a real test. Allowed to run off the same mark he’s sure to go close if he repeats that level of performance. The main dangers should come from the fillies in the field all of whom have sound chances on recent form with Essenza looking the pick of the trio especially if she’s given a more conservative ride this time with her Fibresand experience sure to stand her in good stead. Fairy Fast and Senorita Grande have yet to run here although on pedigree the latter looks as though she will be suited by the test.
  1. Requited
  2. Essenza
  3. Senorita Grande
