All three efforts in novice events have came over 1m4f in weak races, so perhaps isn't open to as much improvement as others as he tackles 1m5f for the first time. This doesn't look masses easier than the races he has been running in so far.

Shed maiden tag at the fifth attempt when stepped up in trip at Lingfield (1m4f; standard) last month. Only 3lb higher and that form has since been boosted by the second this week. Up in trip again, and should be more to come.

Showed more ability than most in maidens and shaped as though step up in trip would suit when third over 1m2f here last month on second handicap start. Could well be about to show marked improvement now.

Five-race maiden who goes up to 1m5f after failing to make any considerable impact in two runs over 1m/1m2f. Further 4lb lower than for recent effort over C&D, but has plenty to prove.

Been dropped a further 2lb, but was more encouraging last time when third at Kempton (1m4f; standard to slow) to a progressive sort. Looks to be getting better with each start, and this looks easier than last time.

0-6 and has been disappointing since switching to handicaps, after showing as much in maidens. Mark has tumbled down 9lb in three starts since entering this sphere, and it is unlikely to see him turning his form around.

Looks exposed, and her form has tailed off of late as she has been well-beaten the last twice over staying trips. Still winless after 15 starts and is hard to fancy. Return to AW offers connections some hope.

Tailed off on handicap debut over slightly shorter at Chepstow (1m4f; good) on turf debut. Makes very little appeal in this field, and needs to find plenty of improvement from somewhere if she is to start winning races in future.

Forecasts

Sea Battle (6/4), Waterfront (2/1), Wadacre Galoubet (5/1), Fountain Of Life (6/1), Sibylline (16/1), Miss Green Dream (20/1), Miss Swift (33/1), Blue Beirut (33/1)

Verdict

An open staying handicap in which progressive and unexposed profiles are the qualities to look out for. Wadacre Galoubet and Sibylline both have place prospects. The former is making his handicap debut, while the latter posted her best effort yet when third at Kempton Park last time. In terms of the winner of this contest, it is hard to split WATERFRONT and Sea Battle. The former is awarded narrow preference as he is having just his third start in a handicap and looked as though the step up in trip would benefit him when a running-on third over 1m2f here recently. The latter is respected as he still looks well treated after breaking his maiden duck.
