Winless in seven starts, and so is more exposed than some in this field. Form in Ireland is nothing special, but she now makes debut for Archie Watson who excels with two-year-old's. Interesting if market speaks in her favour.

Made the frame on each of his three starts in maidens, and looks just the type to do well in the handicap sphere. Opening mark seems fair, and yard are going well so he holds a leading chance.

Made a winning transition to handicaps when successful at Bath (5f; good to firm). Now steps up in trip on AW debut off a 4lb higher mark, and she should have more to give. This is a great deal tougher than the contest she ran in last time though.

Appealing profile overall, and he was a good second at Ffos Las (6f; good) on nursery debut just nine days ago. Only been raised 2lb for that effort, and should be bang there once again in chase for that elusive maiden victory.

Talented claimer onboard and the soft ground may have been to blame on his first run over this trip when he could only manage to finish midfield at Nottingham (6f; soft). Shown enough to suggest he can be competitive at this level.

Underwhelming favourite (4/1f) on handicap debut at Leicester (7f; good) last time, but had an excuse (lost a shoe). Now drops back in trip, and his two best efforts have both came on the AW so shouldn't be written off just yet.

Improved with each start in maidens, the most recent of those being achieved on his first start over this trip. Now makes AW/handicap debut, and should take another step forward. This is a very competitive race though so he will need to.

Had been competitive in all three starts prior to finding the Convivial Maiden at York (7f; good to firm) too hot to handle. Now drops back in trip on first start in this sphere, and is on the shortlist.

Handicap newcomer who put his best foot forward on his most recent start when third behind the exciting Huraiz (who has since franked the form) on the AW at Newcastle (6f; standard). Opening mark is fair. Should go close in first time cheekpieces.

Showed a good level of ability without winning in maidens, and so it would be fair to say he has been underwhelming in three handicap starts. Returns to AW, and his mark is sliding, but he doesn't seem one to trust.

Forecasts

Baltic State (11/4), Jump The Gun (7/2), Zuckerberg (6/1), Aryaaf (6/1), Zingaro Boy (7/1), Najm (10/1), Stone Soldier (14/1), You're My Rock (16/1), Kocasandra (20/1), Bezzas Lad (33/1)

Verdict

This is a ridiculously competitive nursery handicap in which plenty of these have chances, including Aryaaf who is the sole winner in this field. Jump The Gun made a similarly promising start to life in nurseries when runner-up at Ffos Las, while Baltic State appeals as one to enjoy plenty of success at this level after finishing there or thereabouts in each of his starts in maidens. However, we'll go for one at the bottom of the handicap in the shape of NAJM who achieved a career-best most recently when third behind the seemingly smart Huraiz (2-2 & due to run in a Group 3 at Kempton this weekend). His opening mark looks more than fair on the basis of that form.
  1. Najm
  2. Jump The Gun
  3. Baltic State
