Left Simon Crisford for 9,000gns in July; third of seven (beaten 6L) to the Godolphin-owned Mutafawwig on debut for this trainer at Doncaster (6f, soft) three weeks ago; some work to do with today's rival Marvel.
€10,000 foal; third foal from an unraced dam who was a half-sister to the 5f Group 1 winner Equinao; closely related to the 6f Irish/Hong Kong winner Loving A Boom; carries the silks of locally-based owner John Dance.
Turned over at odds of 2/11f on his penultimate start (5f, Beverley) and remains a maiden accordingly after 13 attempts; tongue-tie applied on AW debut (and blinkers are reapplied).
32,000gns foal; overcame a slow start to run a reasonably solid race (finished a weakening fourth) on debut at Redcar (7f, good) last month; dam was a 5f winner, so could prove suited by dropping back in trip; cheekpieces applied.
Twice a runner-up (including over C&D) during a seven-race career to date; certainly can't be labelled as progressive, but he mightn't need to be in this sort of company; returns from a 76-day absence (wind surgery).
Poet's Voice gelding; has shown steady improvement on turf (5f-6f, soft) since returning to action in recent weeks; finished 2½L in front of today's rival Buniann when chasing home Mutafawwig at Doncaster latest.
Regressive 12-race maiden; 0-5 for Geoff Harker, falling 12lb in the handicap since June; virtually impossible to identify a positive angle; is unconsidered.
Cost 40,000gns as a juvenile; half-sister to the 1m6½f winner Cape Liberty; achieved precious little in finishing 13L third of five to the 1/4f Whisper Aloud on debut at Bath (5½f, good to firm) ten days ago; tongue-tie applied.
Forecasts
Critical Voltage (5/4), Kyllachy Warrior (4/1), Buniann (6/1), Dream of Honour (6/1), Marvel (9/1), Eloquent Style (12/1), Bithiah (22/1), Rangefield Express (80/1)
A very moderate and winnable novice contest. Any form of sustained market support behind the Richard Fahey-trained and John Dance-owned debutant Critical Voltage should probably be heeded. However, without the market as a guide at this stage the tentative advice is to stick with the improving MARVEL. Julie Camacho's Poet's Voice gelding had the measure of today's rival Buniann at Doncaster recently and is fancied to confirm those placings on his return to an artificial surface. The remainder, which include the tongue-tied Dream Of Honour have had plenty of chances.
- Marvel
- Critical Voltage
- Eloquent Style
