On a losing run of 15 since his last win in 2017, and while not disgraced at Brighton last time, there are others with more pressing recent claims in this line-up.

Formerly trained in France where he at least won a maiden but has struggled in all his efforts in Britain. Failed to beat a rival when blinkered last time, and cheekpieces refitted here.

Bit disappointing at Thirsk last time, but showed plenty on his first three starts, and goes into handicaps on a fair mark based on pick of his form. Should go close.

Mark reflects that she's better on AW than turf, winning at Wolverhampton in November and January. Below her best there last time, but has every chance off an 8lb lower mark back on this surface.

Dropped in trip when winning over 7½f at Chester, and followed up over an extended 1m at Nottingham. Couldn't get involved at Redcar last time, but this looks a little easier, and he should be competitive on the balance of his recent form.

Returned from a 568-day absence with two promising close efforts at Redcar and over C&D in June/July. Below best since, but not discredited over 7f at Doncaster last time, and a return to this trip should suit, so he's not ruled out.

Has won at Beverley and Yarmouth this season, and did well to be fourth at former track last time after failing to settle. Remains on a fair mark, and no surprise to see him run well once more.

Failed to win last year, and has something to prove starting out for a new yard after almost a year on the sidelines, for all he's now a massive 21lb lower than when scoring over C&D in 2017 for Alan Brown.

She is fairly handicapped on the best of this year's form, but has been expensive to follow, and ran one of her lesser races when trailing home at Musselburgh last time. Others more persuasive.

Career record now reads 0-13, so hard to get too excited, but he ran one of his best races when a keeping-on fifth of 11 at Carlisle last week, and he wouldn't be out of this if building on that effort.

Forecasts

Morning Duel (4/1), Zafaranah (4/1), Salam Zayed (5/1), Flying Raconteur (13/2), New Look (9/1), Abushamah (10/1), Roller (10/1), Armed (10/1), Curfewed (14/1), Shouranour (16/1), Diviner (20/1)

Verdict

MORNING DUEL is an unexposed three-year-old making his handicap debut in a winnable race, so gets the vote to put a recent modest effort at Thirsk behind him. Salam Zayed looks next best with his latest effort also easy to forgive, and Zafaranah is handicapped to play a part as well, accepting that she is a little better on Tapeta than turf.
