Built on the promise of his fifth of 19 on the Rowley Mile (6f) when scoring on the July Course over the same trip on good to firm latest. Has a 6lb penalty for that but is the clear standard setter and anything that beats him likely wins this.
£22,000 son of Power finished second of eight in a Chepstow novice auction stakes over 6f on good to firm in last month's debut. Winner followed up to advertise the form so looks the obvious threat to Hamish Macbeth.
Tamayuz colt. Brother to winner up to 7½f winner Mywayistheonlyway. Always in rear and last of six on debut at Sandown last month and looks distant stable second string to Cosmic Power.

Had a break since debut 10th of 12 at Yarmouth over 7f back in May. Led until 1f out there so drop to 6f should be a bonus although still up against it to make the frame.

Bought for £35,000 as a yearling. By Dark Angel and a half-sister to 7f AW winner Master Diver. From top yard prolific with juveniles and the market a good guide to compare him to exposed stablemate Dreamy Rascal.

Not built on promising sixth at Windsor (5f, good) when debuting in April in two subsequent racecourse appearances. Would suspect stable's debutante Rapidash has better claims.

Best effort in three starts came when finishing third in a 6f novice event at Windsor (good-to-firm) penultimately but couldn't follow that up at Brighton although perhaps 7f was the reason. Each-way hopes.

Forecasts

Hamish Macbeth (1/2), Cosmic Power (9/2), Sovereign Beauty (5/1), Rapidash (8/1), Progressive Rating (10/1), Dreamy Rascal (20/1), The Blue Bower (28/1), Ocho Grande (33/1), Edebez (33/1)

Verdict

This looks a pretty good opportunity for HAMISH MACBETH to follow up his Newmarket win despite the penalty in what looks a weaker race on paper. The obvious threat is Cosmic Power who only found a Richard Hannon trained newcomer who has followed up since too good on debut at Chepstow. Hannon runs a newcomer here in Rapidash and this filly is the potential fly in the ointment in what on the formbook looks a match.
  1. Hamish Macbeth
  2. Cosmic Power
  3. Rapidash
