Generally speaking has shown his very best form on the AW (4123); disappointing since finishing runner-up at Musselburgh (1m1f, good) in May; 8lb lower and recently gelded.

Kept on strongly when comfortably seeing off Lady Scatterley here on the Westwood (1m2f, good to firm) in July; solid in defeat since (twice placed) and continuing to inch up the weights as a result; further rain would be a slight concern.

New Approach filly; ran well on her seasonal debut at Newmarket (1m) in April when finishing a distant third to Maqsad/Twist 'N' Shake; hasn't matched that since and continues to slip down the weights; first start for Donald McCain.

Stayed on strongly when terminating Termonator over 7½f (good) in a Class 6 apprentices' handicap here in May; solid if a shade unspectacular since; certainly capable of making the frame.

Beaten a mere 2½L when fourth to Muhaarar's Nephew in a soft ground C&D maiden (66-1) in June; difficult draw, but taking that aside has the scope to do better now introduced to handicapping.

Boasts a couple of bits of placed form on his CV (7f-1m); left Clive Cox for 13,000gns in July after finishing a ½L second to Mitigator at Lingfield (1m, standard); low-mileage on turf (0-3).

Nine-race maiden; has shown improved form during the month of July; headed inside the final furlong when beaten 2L by stablemate Red Seeker over 7½f here (good) latest; stamina to prove over further.

Gunnison25
Age: 3|  Weight: 8-5| J: Sean Davis(3)| T: R A Fahey| OR:  53
33/1
Beaten 1L by Royal Duchess in a 7f apprentices handicap at Ayr (good to firm) last month but that form isn't overly strong and he posted a poor effort at Redcar latest; appears to be vulnerable in terms of stamina at 1m+.

Forecasts

Northern Lyte (4/1), One To Go (9/2), Alfa Dawn (6/1), Molly Mai (6/1), Dreamseller (9/1), Abie's Hollow (9/1), Osmosis (12/1), Mustadun (12/1), Dark Poet (20/1), My Boy Lewis (22/1), Artistic Streak (28/1), Gunnison (33/1), Oblate (50/1), Sauron's Eye (66/1)

Verdict

A typically tricky three-year-old handicap. The improving course winner Northern Lyte would remain of interest assuming that the rain stays away from East Yorkshire, while Alfa Dawn could fare better now dropped in trip. Molly Mai is another thought capable of making the frame, although she's solid rather than spectacular. Dark Poet (new trainer) and Obiate (handicap debut) are possible angles, while One To Go doesn't know how to run a poor race. However, with no real conviction in a wide open looking contest, a slightly risky alternative is the Donald McCain debutante ARTISTIC STREAK who has shown some signs of ability for Tom Dascombe.
  1. Artistic Streak
  2. Alfa Dawn
  3. Molly Mai
