8/13

Good debut effort in finishing 2¼L second in a 13 runner 7f novice race at Kempton and duly followed up in comfortable fashion at Wolverhampton next, again over 7f. Penalised here but sets a high standard.

Form: 21

(4)

Zahee²¹

5/1

Iffraaj colt who cost 200,000 guineas as a yearling led briefly 2f out on debut in a six-runner novice contest at Salisbury (7f) but hung under pressure and finished third. Experience of that should help and has each-way potential.

Form: 3

50/1

€70,000 yearling by Bated Breath; dam unraced half-sister to 9.4f Group 3 winner Flowers of Spring. Market can guide but stable's newcomers do generally need the run.

Form:

(13)

Knightfall¹⁴

50/1

Homebred by Nathaniel out of 6f winning mare was slowly away and never able to land a blow on debut at Newmarket over 7f beaten 23L. Remains firmly on the watch list.

Form: 8

(6)

Mayne

Age: 3| Weight: 9-2| J: Joshua Bryan⁽³⁾| T: A M Balding

20/1

Newcomer by Dansili out of a 1m4f winning dam represents powerful connections so is well worth a look in the market on debut.

Form:

Age: 3| Weight: 9-2| J: Liam Keniry| T: Mrs C A Dunnett

125/1

Improved on debut run at Chelmsford in March at Yarmouth the following month but still managed to finish last. Others easily preferred.

Form: 00

Motfael⁵⁹

Age: 3| Weight: 9-2| J: L Morris| T: Owen Burrows

7/1

240,000 gns brother to Listed winner Extremis showed promise on racecourse debut when fourth of 14 at Kempton over 7f beaten just over 2L. Can improve for that and is certainly now one of the most likely sorts.

Form: 4

(14)

Can I Kick It

Age: 3| Weight: 8-11| J: F Sweeney| T: S C Williams

100/1

Daughter of Acclamation cost 16,000gns as a yearling but as both of her winning siblings won at two the fact that she debuts so late is cause for concern.

Form:

(8)

Age: 3| Weight: 8-11| J: Ryan Tate| T: W Jarvis

20/1

82,000gns half-sister to useful Irish sprinter Speak In Colours. Fourth in a hot race at Yarmouth at last September. Absence since cause for concern but not ruled out here.

66/1

Unraced daughter of Tamayuz bought for 12,000gns just last month. Market can guide as to expectations.

Forecasts

Mutamaasik (8/13), Zahee (5/1), Motfael (7/1), Visionara (10/1), Reine De Vitesse (12/1), Lady Bowthorpe (20/1), Mayne (20/1), Knightfall (50/1), Breath Of Spring (50/1), Keep On Laughing (50/1), Maqboola (66/1), Squizzy Boy (66/1), Can I Kick It (100/1), Mazmerize (125/1)

A 6lb penalty is not enough to rule out impressive Wolverhampton winner MUTAMAASIK and he is taken to overcome that and continue the bright start to his career. Both Motfael and Zahee achieved enough in their one race to date to think that with expected improvement they can also contend.
