Well beaten in a couple of starts at Newcastle last March, and while she ought to do better in time, she's entitled to need this turf debut, which will qualify her for handicaps.

Soundly beaten on all five starts to date. Seemed not to handle quick ground last time (hung throughout), but not one to make excuses for given he looks very limited.

From family of yard's standard-bearer Jack Dexter. Green on recent Doncaster debut over 6f, but stayed on in pleasing style when the penny dropped, and should improve, so makes some each-way appeal.

Gelded son of Cityscape from a good family. Well backed for 7f debut at Catterick, and ran on well to grab second on the line. Will learn from that, and one for the shortlist here.

Blinkers on for the first time here, but this gelding has shown no form to date, and a huge surprise if he could get involved.

Daughter of Farhh from an excellent family, and fetched 375,000 gns as a yearling. Better than the bare result when mid-field on debut at Kempton in January. Not coming here for the sea air, and a win would boost her broodmare value markedly.

Piccolo half-sister to 6f winner Questo. Dropped away tamely after racing in touch on her debut at Thirsk in June, and makes limited appeal for all that initial experience was clearly needed.

100/1
Bated Breath half-sister to owner's smart Fibresand performer Dubai Hills among others. Has proved very disappointing to date, however (OR 45) and hard to see blinkers making enough of a difference here.

Homebred half-sister to Park Hill Stakes winner Silk Sari, herself a daughter of top-class racemare Gossamer. Likely type on paper for yard with a 25% sytrike-rate here in recent years.

20/1
Dubawi half-sister to smart 1¼m-1½m winner Klassique out of owner's G1 (Matron Stakes) winner Chachamaidee. Showed worryingly little on debut at Newbury last month, but not judged prematurely on that given her excellent pedigree.

5/2
Runner-up over C&D in May, and sets the form standard on that effort (OR 75), but she hasn't progressed. Only fifth over 1m at Thirsk last time, although all three who beat her to run since have won, so may be better than that effort implies.

Shaqwarp143
Age: 3|  Weight: 8-12| J: G Lee| T: K A Ryan| OR:  70
8/1
All three starts have come at Thirsk, earning a rating of 70 based on a pair of third-place finishes this year. Bit more needed here, but may benefit from cheekpieces, and not ruled out by any means.

Forecasts

Farzeen (7/4), Royal Welcome (5/2), Sorbonne (5/1), High Gloss (7/1), Shaqwar (8/1), Narak (20/1), Gleniffer (33/1), Guarded Secret (100/1), Wearraah (200/1), Allsfineandandy (200/1), New Rhythm (200/1), Graciarose (200/1)

Verdict

FARZEEN isn't the pick on form by any means, but this immaculately-bred filly showed plenty to work on when making her debut at Kempton in January, and is likely to prove a different proposition on her return from a break. She is preferred to Royal Welcome, whose fifth at Thirsk last time is not as disappointing as it looked at the time, while Sorbonne is also of interest after an encouraging debut at Catterick. High Gloss and Narak are others with excellent pedigrees and both merit a market check in an intriguing contest.
