Gone backwards since making the perfect seasonal return in April. Could only beat the one rival in five-runner affair at Ayr (5f ; good to firm) last week. Must produce an improved effort if wanting to get involved.

Put an end to long losing run when taking an Ayr (5f; good to firm) handicap last week. Respected if arriving in similar form, but this is a step up in grade and thus looks a tougher race so does have a little bit to prove.

Still fairly lightly raced after just the eight career starts. However, clearly better was expected last time when she was sent off 15-8f at Carlisle (5f; good to firm) last week and only managed to finish sixth. Not dismissed though.

Comes over to these shores from Ireland for the first time. Posted some admirably consistent efforts in defeat in big-field handicaps of late. Interesting contender and disappointing if he weren't able to feature. Betting could be informative.

Doing well in the main this year. Not disgraced at Beverley (5f; good to firm) last week when fourth of nine. Now 1lb lower and could have a part to play. Definite place claims at least.

Form has curtailed the last twice after a string of ultra-consistent efforts on the AW at Southwell. Still 5lb above latest winning mark so probably still up against it, and is subsequently best watched for the time being.

Course and distance victory at this track in May has been followed up by two fair efforts in handicaps. Has bounced back from fairly quiet runs in the past though, and has to be a player after being in great form throughout most of this season.

In the form of his life and is now bidding for the hat-trick after notching second win in a row at Catterick (6f; good to firm) at the start of the month. C&D winner the time before that. Shortlist material.

Couldn't deal with 6lb rise in the weights for scoring at Catterick (5f; soft) two starts ago when never able to threaten at Haydock (5f; good to firm) last time. No reason to expect an improved performance from this mare off the same mark.

Not progressed since making a winning return to the track in May. Very disappointing when seventh at Carlisle (5f; good to firm) recently. Now only 2lb above last winning mark but needs to step up on previous efforts.

Inconsistent profile since making seasonal return in April. Posted a decent effort when third at Bath (5f; good to firm) but that was on much faster ground to what is expected today. Goes well here, but not won for two years now.

Forecasts

Debawtry (3/1), Shepherd's Purse (6/1), Everkyllachy (6/1), Art Of Unity (7/1), Hard Solution (7/1), Robot Boy (7/1), Northern Society (10/1), Honey Gg (11/1), Economic Crisis (28/1), Our Place In Loule (33/1), Camanche Grey (80/1)

Verdict

He was a disappointing favourite when sent off as the 15-8f at Carlisle last week, but Debawtry should not be completely written off on what is likely to be slightly easier ground. There are a few in this contest who are currently in career-best form and look the ones to focus on, such as HARD SOLUTION. The aforementioned horse is the selection after he followed up his recent C&D win, with a victory at Catterick over slightly further than this at the start of the month and is only 1lb higher in the weights. The Irish-raider Art Of Unity is an eye-catching runner as he makes his British debut after a string of consistent efforts in hotly-contested Irish handicaps.
