Debuts for a new yard after a fruitless spell over hurdles; did manage a win on the Flat when trained by Richard Hannon last year but lost his way since. Probably safe to just watch him run this time.
Holding his form well and has thrived since tried in headgear; won his last two starts well and no penalty for winning an apprentices race last time. Solid claims again.
On a handy mark but last win came over 2m and the mare has been struggling to maker an impact this term. Others more appealing.
Always been better on the AW but has snippets of form on turf that entitle him to respect at this level. Reasonably well handicapped but needs to better a poor run at Beverley last month if he's gong to play a part here.
Proven at the trip and seen finishing to good effect in her last two starts, the latest of which gives the filly solid claims in this company. Just 1lb higher so has to make the shortlist.
Still a maiden but went close when third at Windsor over this sort of trip in April; held both times since but the better ground can help him this time. One to bear in mind if attracting interest in the betting.
On a workable mark and suited by the predicted ground conditions. This is his grade and will be better suited to this trip than the extended 1m6f he tried last time. Place claims at least if bouncing back.
Very consistent but looks at the ceiling of his ability these days and he's been readily overhauled by more determined rivals on too many occasions lately for him to be a confident selection to make the frame.
Just out of the weights and this is tougher than the race he won at Carlisle in May; he was a disappointing favourite back at that course last month and faces another stiff test on these terms.
Forecasts
Gas Monkey (8/13), Movie Star (7/1), Majestic Stone (8/1), Albert Boy (8/1), Flower Power (10/1), Mobham (12/1), Airplane (16/1), Doctor Jazz (22/1), Star Ascending (25/1)
MOVIE STAR has caught the eye on a couple of occasions when she's been staying on near the finish and may have been found a decent opportunity to open her account in British racing (she's still a maiden but was formerly trained in Germany). The in-form Gas Monkey has enjoyed a new lease of life since racing in a hood and is rated as the main danger, while support for either Albert Boy or Mobham would make it an interesting conundrum as to which has the most solid chance of making the frame. Airplane could also be a good value each-way punt.
- Movie Star
- Gas Monkey
- Albert Boy
