5/1
Well treated on his old form, his latest second coming over C&D in testing conditions (failed to last home, rider kicked on too early). Hard to fault his consistency of late (has won over C&D); on better ground now, has to be taken seriously.

Hard to crab his record but he does have some quirks (often gets well behind/looks hard ride). Fortunate to win over hurdles at Perth in May (favourite fell last); flopped over hurdles here last time; returns to fences with questions to answer.

14/1
Dual winner at this track, the latest win over C&D capping off a good start over fences (went downhill in the discipline after that). Ran poorly over C&D returning from an absence/wind op last time; may do better now that blinkers reappear.

Yet to win a race under Rules but not with some ability as she showed when finishing runner-up three times over hurdles. Didn't do too badly on her chase debut (no chance at weights); handicapper gives her a chance at a course that should suit.

2131 under today's rider whom she has struck up a good partnership with posting a career-best last time (her second win in three starts). Usually likes to go from the front (faces pace pressure; has done before); capable of more off this mark.

Modest sort over hurdles and judged on his chase debut it's going to be the same story over fences. Jumped well enough on his debut at Worcester finishing a sound enough third but looked as though another 4f would suit; this may prove too sharp.

Age: 6|  Weight: 10-13| J: James Bowen| T: P & M Bowen| OR:  89| BF
11/5
Dual winning pointer (finished second in a maiden hunter chase over 2m5f here); well-backed favourite when brought down by stablemate at Ffos Las on first run for this yard. Support indicates that his mark may be lenient; one to note in the market.
8

Brother Scott32
Age: 12|  Weight: 10-11| J: Thomas Dowson| T: B Butterworth| OR:  87| C| D
50/1
Unreliable and rather quirky individual who has failed to fire for this yard and offered some poor efforts since a wind op last year. Turned in a meagre effort over C&D last time admittedly in very different conditions; makes little appeal though.
9
Horse silk
St George's Ovalp,t9
Age: 6|  Weight: 10-7| J: Conor Shoemark| T: L Egerton| OR:  83
25/1
His record over hurdles (0-18) isn't that compelling and he was well held when sent chasing last time at Market Rasen. Dropped away quickly and no reason to suppose that he's going to produce a leap forward here off a basement mark.

Forecasts

Fateh (11/5), Ringaringarosie (3/1), Flints Legacy (4/1), Oliver's Gold (5/1), West Coast Lass (12/1), My Renaissance (14/1), Lough Kent (20/1), St George's Oval (25/1), Brother Scott (50/1)

Verdict

Fascinating handicap chase which might not be of the highest quality but should be run at a blistering gallop with the likes of RINGARINGAROSIE and West Coast Lass in the field with Martin Todhunter’s mare taken to add another victory around this sharp track she’s proved hard to catch before. Oliver’s Gold deserves a change of luck having finished second on five consecutive occasions; this better ground will help him last home, he’s certainly well handicapped. If the market signals were correct last time Fateh won't be far away and he’s had experience around this track before. A positive market move for My Renaissance should also be noted now that the headgear reappears.
  1. Ringaringarosie
  2. Fateh
  3. Oliver's Gold
