Out of sorts since landing a 1m course handicap in June, 2017. Switch to fourth trainer in two years latest saw him a remote last of 10 so easy to oppose.

Pulled up when last seen at Wolverhampton in December. Leap of faith now needed in such a big field after an injury-enforced absence.

7f Sandown winner last season showed her wellbeing with a sound third of 17 over C&D on return last month. Surely come on plenty for that and with a helpful draw and top jockey booked positives outweigh negatives.

Won at Chepstow on quick ground this time last year but proving inconsistent since. Dropping to a winnable mark if on the ball but comes with a good deal of risk.

On 24-race losing streak but didn't run badly from falling mark in first turf start this season. Disappointing latest however and is hard to fancy on balance.

Took advantage of falling handicap mark when winning comfortably over a mile at Wolverhampton in May. Disappointing when upped 6lb latest at Leicester however and now doubts about him handicap-wise.

Very consistent gelding of late over a variety of trips and surfaces. Won over an extended mile at Chepstow last month and comes into this race in good heart after good efforts at York, Chepstow and Windsor. Bold bid looks assured.

Won last two last season on AW and ran every bit as well on turf at Nottingham in May two starts back. Disappointing here since although in a much warmer race but the biggest worry here is the ground given her best form is on soft.

Front runner proved progressive early on and took a Haydock handicap off 9lb higher in May last year. Has rather lost his way in his last three starts, including on reappearance and needs the drop in trip to spark him into life.

Four-time winner (6f-7f) but never convinced in five previous attempts at 1m plus for all that he often looks like he might stay the distance when over shorter. Others preferred.

Won three times over 1m last season but two starts in 2019 have been substandard by comparison and now look safer bets elsewhere.

145,000gns foal, third of 11 in maiden at Leicester (7f, good to firm; 8-1) last month, nearest finish. Makes switch to handicaps here and with step up to 1m likely to aid he's an attractive proposition.

Lingfield winner last season also third in a 7f novice at Salisbury, and better than she could show on return when stumbling at the start at Chepstow. Third at Leicester in a small field latest leaves her a bit to find.

Benefitted from a class drop latest when third of nine at Goodwood over 7f and now just 1lb off last winning mark. Seems to stay 1m and can't be ruled out in an open contest.

Less than straightforward and although he has run some decent races in that period the losing run of 27 probably tells you all you need to know. Below form on the AW when last seen, the significant absence is also off putting.

Yet to land a blow in two starts in 2019 and form in late 2018 was of a similar ilk. Would need to see hints of a revival before recommending him.

Verdict

Despite the big field here the ultra-consistent SIR RODERIC looks a safe bet to go close and after a series of good runs since his win at Chepstow there would be few more deserving winners. Unexposed three-year-old Eligible is a big danger with his best form almost certainly yet to come and recent C&D third Keeper's Choice who enjoys these big fields is another firmly on the shortlist.
