Made a less than satisfactory start to his career when finishing a distant eighth of 13 in a Nottingham maiden (1m, good to soft) last season. The form of that race has been franked but has been gelded and makes little appeal.

9/1
Runner up on debut at Wolverhampton before going backwards when finishing an 11-length fourth of 12 at Chester (7f, good) last month. This looks to be an easier assignment but needs to improve on that effort to be competitive.

Hasn't troubled the leaders in two starts at Chelmsford and Yarmouth in May. Big improvement required to land a blow and hard to recommend.

Son of Kingman who has the pedigree to shape up into a very smart horse (half-brother to Group One winner Winsili) who hails from a top yard. Cheekpieces on for his debut but warrants great respect.

Offered no signs of promise when last of thirteen on debut at Chelmsford (1m2f, standard) last month. Down in trip on this occasion but very likely to be the same outcome.

Showed signs of progression in two starts last season, including when third of 13 at Newmarket's Rowley Mile when last seen in October. Needs to step up on that form on seasonal reappearance but can't be dismissed.

Age: 3|  Weight: 9-5| J: Dane O'Neill| T: R Varian| OR:  85| BF
7/2
One of the more exposed runners in the field. Second as an outsider on seasonal debut before a respectable third of five in Doncaster handicap (1m, good to firm) last time. Big chance on form.

Excellent debut run when third as an outsider at Newbury (7f, good) earlier in the season. The form of that race has worked out strongly and looks to be the one to beat.

Sea The Stars colt who is a half-brother to former Stewards' Cup winner Intrinsic and a full brother to the high-class Mutakayyef. Likely to improve for the run but deserves respect on debut for top trainer.

100/1
6,000 gns yearling who finished a moderate sixth of seven in minor event at Lingfield (7f, good to firm) on her debut in May. Likely to come up against some smart prospects and is best watched.

Finished down the field in two starts at Leicester to date, most recently when eighth of 10 (1m, good to soft) 12 days ago. Unlikely to feature.

€21,000 purchase as a two-year-old and is a half-sister to useful miler Future Proof. has the pedigree to stay this distance but yard is not known for debut winners. others preferred.

Forecasts

Reynolds (15/8), Light And Dark (3/1), Moqtarreb (7/2), Frontman (7/1), Sea Wings (7/1), Bardo Contiguo (9/1), Heartbreak Hotel (50/1), Asensio (80/1), Your Thoughts (100/1), Ecstasea (100/1), Fountain Of Life (100/1), Isaac Murphy (100/1)

Verdict

In what looks to be a strong second division of the novice stakes on the card, preference is for REYNOLDS , who finished third behind this year's Royal Hunt Cup winner Biometric and has a good chance to shed his maiden tag at the second attempt. Debutant Frontman is bred to be a classy horse and his sire's prodigy are known to run well on their first runs, while the experience that Light and Dark has should set him in good stead, but is likely to find one or two too good.
  1. Reynolds
  2. Frontman
  3. Light And Dark
