Most recent win came in Doncaster 2m h'cap hurdle in December. Hasn't be on top form in two starts on Flat this spring so debatable whether 1lb lower mark is going to help spark a revival off top weight.

Off the mark at Lingfield penultimate start at the 10th time of asking and ran well enough when second at Thirsk subsequently after meeting trouble-in-running to suggests she is a player here on this more galloping track for top yard.

Only win 13 attempts came on AW at Kempton last August in 1m4f novice stakes for Charles Hills. Has looked out of sorts in four runs for new yard this season and appears to need more help from the handicapper.

Goes well at York, winning there in 2017 and finshing a decent fourth on the Knavesmire in each of her last two outings. Seems in good nick at present, yard among the winners, and chance if last Friday's exertions haven't left their mark.

Hasn't won since September 2016 although has gone close on a few occasions. Veteran makes his belated seasonal reappearance and has run only moderately in three previous visits to this venue. Others make more appeal.

Placed in five of his last six starts, inlcuding being runner-up on both starts so far this term in handicaps at this trip. Still 5lb higher than last winning rating though but does get plenty of weight from all six of his rivals.

Forecast

Appointed (13/8), Francophilia (5/2), War Brigade (11/4), Remember The Days (6/1), Albert Boy (6/1), Mapped (6/1), Card High (25/1)

Verdict

FRANCOPHILIA may just come out on top in what looks a close-knit affair. She appeared to be a shade unlucky when runner-up at Thirsk last time. War Brigade also went close on his latest start and may be helped by the application of cheekpieces, while Appointed is another who has been running consistently of late and won't be at all far away on recent evidence. Albert Boy cannot be ruled out either despite finding winning tough of late.
  1. Francophilia
  2. War Brigade
  3. Appointed
