AW regular; has won on both visits to Southwell (1m3f-1m4f), races which came either side of his sole turf start - finished 8L third of 12 at Doncaster (1m4f, good to firm); sits on a career-high mark of 61; has a chance nevertheless.
13-race maiden; went closest when beaten a neck by Kroy at Newcastle (7f) last October; didn't appear to fully see out the 1m3f trip here last week when finishing fifth of ten to Hillgrove Angel.
Back to winning ways for the first time since July 2016 when fending off Maroon Bells by ¾L at Thirsk (1m4f, good to soft) last week; his in-form trainer more or less offsets the subsequent 4lb penalty by deploying 3lb claimer Danny Redmond.
Soft ground C&D winner last August and reasonably solid in three subsequent starts around the Buttonhook (264); beaten 5½L by the southern-based raider Battle of Issus here (1m5f, soft) a fortnight ago; down in trip with cheekpieces applied.
20-race turf maiden (both of his wins have come on Tapeta at Gosforth Park); placed on three occasions over hurdles around the turn of the calendar year; no further progress back on the Flat since.
22-race maiden; totally uninspiring on both the Flat and over hurdles; 66/1 when finishing last of ten to Perla Blanca at Ayr (1m5f) three weeks ago; stablemate of Judith Gardenier.
C&D winner in September 2016 (good to soft); has raced only three times since, including when finishing a tailed-off last of 13 (80/1) at Newcastle; equally unappealing stablemate of Go Guarantor.
Jumps pedigree, so unsurprisingly has started at triple figure odds in three runs in maiden/novice races (1m-1m2f); steps up in trip for handicap debut in a very weak race, but still can't be considered as a possible contender; look elsewhere.
Six-race maiden (1m2f-1m6f); finished eighth of 13 (100/1) to Mr Coco Bean on seasonal reappearance at Redcar (1m2f, good to firm) 23 days ago; others preferred.
Forecasts
Cold Harbour (9/4), Dew Pond (9/4), Pammi (5/1), Ninepin Bowler (6/1), Life Knowledge (13/2), Mullion Dreams (28/1), Go Guarantor (33/1), Kissesforeveryone (50/1), Judith Gardenier (50/1)
A poor finale which features four maidens (Ninepin Bowler, Go Guarantor, Mullion Dreams and Kissesforeveryone) and a handful of other horses who can hardly be labelled as regular winners. Cold Harbour sits on a career high mark (61), but is at least in fine fettle and could be viewed as unexposed on turf, while Pammi is a past C&D winner who could feasibly fare better for dropping back in trip in newly applied headgear. However, the most logical option is the Tim Easterby-trained DEW POND who rediscovered the all important winning mentality (5-39) at Thirsk last week.
- Dew Pond
- Pammi
- Cold Harbour
