Been well out of form lately. Recently finished thirteenth of 14 at Newcastle (1m; standard). New trip may help but has it to prove on third run since switching stables. Has been given a 242 day break.

Tailed off last time over hurdles but that can be forgiven as he had been in good form on the AW since returning to hurdles for a short spell. Return to Class 6 company also in his favour and he can go well.

Lightly raced but not done much in short career so far. Makes AW debut and has been dropped 6lb since being sent handicapping but needs to show more before any faith is put into him.

Dual-purpose performer who was slightly below-par last time. On same mark as when winning at Epsom (1m4f; good to soft) last season and could feature if reproducing that sort of form again.

Looked to have a good future when winning a Tapeta bumper on debut at Newcastle (2m; standard to slow). Not as good since then but has been running over inadequate trips. Could bounce back to form now handicapping and stepping up to 1m4f.

Put disappointing first run of the year behind him when fourth at Wolverhampton (1m6f; standard) last time. Blinkers reapplied and could run into a place off the same mark.

Beat odds-on favourite on first visit to this track by just over a length at the beginning of the month. Backed that up with a good third at Doncaster in Class 5 company 10 days ago. Could well make it 2-2 at this track.

Second runner on the card for Irish trainer. This one probably holds the better chance. Decent effort on the AW at Dundalk (1m4f; standard) at the turn of the year when fourth. Chance if able to reproduce his Galway (1m4f; soft) win two starts ago.

Forecasts

Cold Harbour (11/8), King Christophe (9/2), Going Native (5/1), Basildon (11/2), Foresee (6/1), Lzaaz (15/2), Phebes Dream (12/1), So You Thought (33/1), Ceyhan (40/1)

Verdict

Cold Harbour is enjoying a good time of things at present after a win over C&D which he backed up with a good run on turf at Doncaster in a better contest. He is certainly the form horse but preference is for BASILDON. The memory of his debut victory over 2m at Newcastle is hard to banish and he hasn't been seen to best effect trip-wise since then. The step back up in trip & switch to handicaps is precisely what he needs and he is a confident selection. Ceyhan hasn't ran on the flat for over a year but had been running well in this company prior to a short stint over hurdles and is an interesting runner running off the same mark as he did when winning at Chelmsford.
  1. Basildon
  2. Cold Harbour
  3. Ceyhan
