Lightly-raced sort who was well held on his PTP debut but has shown some ability in two hunter chases since that run. Ran better than on his debut at Hexham last time but failed to stay 3m having travelled well; this trip should suit better.
Pulled up in both his PTP starts (the latest in April) his form under Rules isn't that much better showing only minor promise; well held on his last start under Rules. Hard to make much of a case for him even with a new yard.
Twice finished runner-up over this C&D (once in this event in 2017) and is a dual winner in the PTP sphere. His second here is still a stand out effort though and he looked very limited when well beaten at Kelso last time out.
Consistent sort in PTP's this year (won once) when with James Tomlinson he made his return to this yard with a sound third at Hexham (3m) last time; finished just in front of Al Le Gone. Far from disgraced he should find this a little easier.
Winner of one of his eight PTP starts (beat two rivals) he was beaten 10L in his latest start in that sphere when starting odds-on favourite. This will be his Rules debut and looking at his form overall he'll need to show more.
Four-time PTP winner (4-22) he's not really fired in that sphere this year (finished well beaten in his last two starts). Did finish second in this last year (given an attacking ride) jumping much better than his previous try under Rules.
Dual PTP winner (had run on the Flat in 2015/16) he ran to a modest level when making his Rules chasing debut at Chepstow (novices' hunter chase). Made to many errors on that occasion to be considered here though facing a similar test.
Last seen under Rules in the summer of 2016 (0-13 in that sphere) his PTP form is poor (pulled up last two starts). Others present a much more persuasive case as he returns under Rules for a new yard.
Placed in both his starts in hunter chases back in 2017 finishing third in this contest (shaped better than his finishing position). Not seen under Rules since then but his recent PTP form suggests he may not be able to run to that level nowadays.
Ran well over hurdles/fences when with Dan Skelton back in 2016/17 (sold for £13,500). Multiple PTP winner since (4-13) having joined a top-class yard and ought to enjoy this sort of test returning to race under Rules.
Scored three times in PTP's this year (beat Mickey Miller 9L in her latest win); shaped well in a mares' open hunter chase at Cheltenham earlier in the month. May not have stayed in that contest; this shorter trip ought to suit better.
Has shown some good form between the flags (5-11) with her second at Cheltenham last year on Rules chasing debut to a far more experienced rival a sound piece of form. Disappointed on her only other Rules start (did too much); leading player.
Forecasts
Teeton Power (11/4), Stage One (7/2), Absainte (5/1), Fair Exchange (7/1), Dee Star (15/2), Fateh (12/1), Mahlers Star (14/1), Dressedforsuccess (16/1), Mickey Miller (20/1), Al Le Gone (20/1), Bedford Forrest (25/1), Baile Liam (40/1)
The experience that STAGE ONE has had over regulation fences before may well stand him in good stead here as he returns to race under Rules off the back of an emphatic PTP win by 15L last time at Peper Harow, another sharp left-handed course so he should feel at home here. The form that Teeton Power showed when second at Cheltenham makes her a big player in this with Absainte another who should be able to get involved if repeating he Cheltenham form of this year. This shorter trip should suit Al Le Gone although he faces a task to turn around Hexham form with Dee Star. Fair Exchange runner up in this last year faces a much stiffer task this time around.
- Stage One
- Teeton Power
