The mark that he returns to over hurdles will make him of interest here if he can be forgiven some woeful chasing efforts of late. 7lb below his last C&D winning mark gained on heavy ground last April; not a solid option but that is an angle.
Two years away from the scene when she returned last time on her first run for this yard having won on her last start for Neil Mulholland. Showed that she retained plenty of ability (not knocked around) and ought to be able to build on that start now
Down in the weights, back from a break and with a first-time tongue-tie employed he looked to show improved form to score over C&D in March off 6lb lower. Form quite hard to evaluate; far from in the same form next time, needs to spring back to life.
As his form figures would suggest he's struggling of late and recent wind surgery needs to have made a significant difference. The handicapper is giving him some mercy but needs to prove that he's back on the right track before support is possible.
Switches back to hurdles having taken the runner-up slot in his last two starts over fences the first of those runs here over a similar trip. May well be capable of similar form over hurdles; not out of this on a return to race over timber.
Certainly has his quirks although the first-time cheekpieces appeared to cure those ills when scoring at Leicester (2m) in December. Has on occasions matched that form without winning in more stern headgear; well below form last time (remote fourth).
Third in a C&D handicap back in March is his best effort so far for his current yard and he runs off the same mark today. Ran poorly on the Flat last time but not too hard to ignore that run; blinkers worn there disappear today.
Gone a long while since scoring back-to-back victories in the summer of 2017 but has finally worked his way back down to the same mark he last scored off. Ran with credit when third at Warwick last time; others have more persuasive claims.
Best form has come at Fakenham (twice a winner at that track) and ran well there again on his penultimate starts. Failed to repeat that effort at Huntingdon last time; travelled with little fluency producing a laboured and below-par effort.
Little impact so far on the Flat or over hurdles with no improvement forthcoming on his handicap debut wearing a first-time hood. May well have needed the run but looks off a stiff mark with his jumping also lacking any fluency or élan.
Forecasts
Truckers Tangle (7/2), No Alarm (9/2), Reckless Behavior (9/2), Polarbrook (5/1), The Accountant (8/1), Murchison River (8/1), Deep Resolve (12/1), Deja Bougg (14/1), Bisoubisou (20/1), Grand Enterprise (33/1)
Strong and solid claims appear to be missing here with most of these having some form of question mark against them. TRUCKERS TANGLE having shown his form over fences of late (two narrow defeats) could have found an ideal opportunity here switching back to the smaller obstacles. Reckless Behavior hasn’t fired over fences of late but does feature off a lenient mark and that plus a move back to timber could prove the catalyst for a revival. No Alarm isn’t the most consistent but has to be considered at this level with Deja Bougg of interest having travelled into her race well last time off a significant break looking to retain all of her ability that she had shown two years hence.
- Truckers Tangle
- Deja Bougg
- No Alarm
