Yet to win on turf but has gone well over C&D and is set to race from 11lb below his last winning mark on the AW; ground conditions ought to suit and likely to have benefited from his seasonal return earlier this month. Thereabouts if on song.
Capable at this level and respected from 1lb below his last winning mark on an artificial surface; never won on turf before now though. Rider's claim a boost at the weights but possible a mile is his bare minimum these days.
Emerged as a comfortable winner on handicap debut (and first attempt over a mile) here last week; picks up a 5lb penalty but has more to offer. Rider's claim more than cancels the extra weight; has to be considered.
Has run well over C&D before (was tried in a visor on that occasion) but has yet to actually win a race and has struggled to make much of an impact since joining his current yard. Improvement needed after a modest run at Kempton earlier this month.
Back on a winning mark but not seen out since last September and has tended to need a run when returning from a break. Worth noting for future reference.
C&D winner from the same mark last summer and showed he retained ability when he returned from a gelding operation shortly afterwards. Not raced since November but may be sharper for the fitting of blinkers. Worth a betting check.
Very well handicapped on the best of his old form but lost his way last season and has been around a number of yards in the last couple of seasons. One to have reservations about.
Form took a nosedive last season and also showed very little on seasonal return at Kempton earlier this month; difficult to recommend at present.
Won from this mark on seasonal debut last year, so feasible to say the gelding shouldn't be underestimated. Well held behind the likes of Buckland Beau at Pontefract latest and a lot more now required.
Won over 7f in this grade at Southwell last season but failed to build on the effort has finished last in each of her two starts this year. Hard to fancy back on turf; big improvement required in the first time hood.
Shown ability on the AW but has failed to impress when tried on turf; plenty to find on the balance of form and others make more appeal.
C&D winner last summer and ran well back here last time. Stiff test from out of the weights this time however; others look more obvious candidates on these terms.
Unexposed at this trip but is of limited ability and is 6lb wrong at the weights. Not too hard to overlook on this occasion.
Forecasts
Take It Down Under (5/6), Oud Metha Bridge (9/2), Buckland Beau (9/1), Comporta (10/1), Boxatricks (16/1), Magwadiri (16/1), Enzo (20/1), Fair Power (25/1), Screaming Gemini (28/1), Harvest Ranger (28/1), Make On Madam (28/1), Percy Toplis (40/1), Astrojewel (66/1)
There may be more to come from last week's C&D winner TAKE IT DOWN UNDER, who won with plenty in hand at the last meeting and has a decent chance of shrugging off the 5lb extra weight. Buckland Beau has claims on the pick of his form but will need every yard of this trip, so the potentially well treated Comporta, who already has a C&D win to his name, edges preference as the biggest threat to the selection. Oud Metha Bridge can also go close but needs a career best on turf to make the frame.
- Take It Down Under
- Comporta
- Buckland Beau
