Made the frame over 7f Lingfield at significant odds (66/1) on her second career start but that the only positive so far; tailed off on handicap debut last month and lots to work on.

Filly has looked somewhat shy in the pace department in three starts thus far, including when bypassed by the majority of rivals having raced prominently in C&D novice last month, finishing last of eight.

Improved on handicap debut over C&D last time taking 4¼L third of 11. May be more to come, albeit certainly needs another step forward in order to improve on the placing. Cheekpieces are added here.

Hood in all four career starts to date, failing to set the heather on fire in 5f/6f sprints as a juvenile. Gained market support for handicap debut over C&D nine days ago but was in trouble a fair way from home. More needed.

Made no impression in two starts for Jose Santos last year, gelded over the winter and ran down the field in 1m1½f Wolverhampton novice auction on debut for this trainer in March; needs to step up on handicap bow.

Showed ability when fifth at Newbury in August, but well beaten in two nursery runs thereafter. Slow to get going on AW but best effort so far in first-time hood (retained) over 7f here last month. She needs to build on that.

Son of Hat Trick bought for £82,000 at the breeze-up sales. Yet to live up to price-tag with five poor runs under varying tactics. Can only be watched for now.

Ran with promise in a novice stakes over 6f here in December and also showed promise on handicap debut shortly afterwards. Sideways moves since but shaped better over C&D (sixth) last month and first-time cheekpieces may assist now.

Unconvincing in three handicap starts thus far, including when dropped to a mile last time at Lingfield. Gets 5lb claim to assist now but really needs to improve on form shown so far.

Three modest efforts in qualifying runs have all come over 6f, including near 12L defeat here in February. Goes up significantly in distance for handicap bow and may be capable of better with first-time tongue-tie applied.

Has toured the AW circuit in four runs without much success. Wide margin defeat over 7f here in January and last month's handicap debut at Newcastle (6f) saw him rather blowing chance at the start; not written off back up in distance with headgear.

Forecasts

Hooflepuff (5/2), Archdeacon (6/1), Freesia Gold (6/1), Platinum Coast (15/2), Medoras Childe (8/1), Frenchmans Creek (11/1), The Numismatist (12/1), Dragon Kuza (14/1), Mongolia (16/1), Power Of Life (20/1), Invincible Sea (40/1)

Verdict

Wide open fare to begin proceedings. Hooflepuff improved on handicap bow and can be competitive here while Dragon Kuza was supporting in the betting over C&D last time and might be better than he showed. Freesia Gold is a potential improver for whom cheekpieces might assist but perhaps MEDORAS CHILDE can build on a better showing in a first-time hood here nine days ago. She's up in trip and could be capable of taking this tough to assess event.
  1. Medoras Childe
  2. Hooflepuff
  3. Freesia Gold
