Consistent sort whose progress looks to have stalled for now may need to drop another pound or two before she's of interest again. Ran with credit last time when third at Taunton but looks to have more a place chance than a winning one.
Previous handicap form (twice runner-up) at Taunton provided the basis for him being made favourite last time (again at Taunton). Travelled well, going much the best when coming down two out; 7lb higher here, leading chance if his jumping is better.
Failed to get his act together over fences (0-4); now back over hurdles (four-time winner in this discipline). Slipped 5lb below his last winning mark over timber and with cheekpieces on for the first-time; one to note for a market move.
Looked the sort to make more of an impression in handicaps but failed to really get involved on his first start in that sphere (claimer ridden). Bred for longer trips though and this increased distance may allow him to show more; still unexposed.
No doubt that he stepped up on previous efforts in a first-time visor over the longest trip he tried at Wetherby last time (3m); didn't look at easy ride though. Hard to be confident that he'll be in the same sort of form off 2lb higher.
Remains a maiden after nine tries over hurdles with his form a rather mixed bag; his fourth at Plumpton last time (2m4f) that a stiffer test would suit him. He gets that here off a career-low mark (92); not one to leave out of calculations.
Flirted with being a little better than his form figures suggest without necessarily shouting that he's a next time out winner. In fact he ran poorly last time (first-time visor), going in snatches; suggestion before that this trip tests him.
Fallen rapidly in the weights over fences (form mixed of late in that sphere); this will be his handicap debut over timber off a career-low mark. Stable back in form, not one to be ignored given his previous hurdles form, market interest possible.
Falling in the weights since his Huntingdon handicap win back in October 2016 (only run seven times since). Off the bridle before most last time back at the scene of his sole win; visor returns, limited interest.
Cashed in on a reduced mark to win over C&D last time after being disappointing for most of the season (good conditional doing the steering). Back up in the weights here to the tune of 8lb (same rider on board); has to prove she can follow up.
Modest form in bumpers and hard to see any improvement to his form over hurdles offering very little in a first-time hood when last seen. Back from an absence with a career-low lark to operate off; makes little appeal.
Absent since a relatively decent effort at Worcester (2m4f, good) last autumn gaining a slight ease in the weights. Hurtled down the weights since first introduced into handicaps; hardly presents the most solid option.
Hopes pinned on a wind op/stable debut working the oracle although that looks unlikely on the evidence she's shown so far. Offered little when last seen over fences at Chepstow (pulled up); 4lb out of the weights, tough ask.
Forecasts
Dollnamix (4/1), Avithos (5/1), Gallows Point (6/1), Mrs Miggins (7/1), Blackmill (15/2), Triopas (8/1), Blue Rhythm (9/1), Robin De Broome (14/1), Master Majic (14/1), Inspireus (16/1), Generous Helpings (33/1), Lapford Lad (40/1), Triggywinkle (66/1)
First of two divisions of this handicap hurdle with both of them containing types that may well be able to take a forward step. DOLLNAMIX is the obvious candidate here in the hope that his jumping holds up this time after he looked all set to score at Taunton last time. Despite scoring over C&D last time Avithos doesn’t look the most likely to follow up that win with Gallows Point another who it’s not hard to have doubts about repeating his last piece of form. Triopas hasn’t got the hang of chasing yet but his hurdles form stands up to examination with first-time cheekpieces added along with Richard Johnson. Inspireus and Blackmill deserve a mention as likely sorts at bigger prices.
- Dollnamix
- Triopas
- Blackmill
