Dual course winner (both at shorter trips) when with Roger Varian but has run well below that level for his current yard here. Edging further down the weights now (below both winning marks); tries 2m on Fibresand for the first time.

First try on this surface (sire has a poor record here; 1-29); returning from a fair absence having last been seen on turf in a marathon (2m2f) Pontefract event. Finished runner-up there; time off and doubts about the surface mean others appeal more.

Not seen on the AW (Fibresand) since running no sort of race here over 1m4f over a year ago. Course winner prior to that (1m6f); has been hurdling with mixed results since last seen on the Flat; now with a new yard having left Neil Mulholland.

Form of 113 over C&D when with Hughie Morrison but not seen on this surface until now (has been hurdling, running on the Flat in Ireland). Found any sort of form hard to come by of late, finished well beaten last time; now with another new yard.

5-20 on Fibresand (3-9; C&D) but well beaten behind Tynecastle Park last time over C&D having beaten that rival when landing her fifth course success in January. Not been in the same form since her last win, finishing well held last time.

Dual C&D winner from a stable in good form whose form over hurdles of late has been disappointing (pulled up three of last four starts in that sphere). Had run well when last seen on the AW (Tapeta); first run since wind surgery.

Failed to finish out of the first two on all but one of seven starts on Fibresand; better than ever on the surface last time (dual C&D winner). Always looked in control last time and should be able to cope with this mark; leading player.

Not disgraced over C&D last time but still to win on this surface; often looks an awkward ride and far from one to trust implicitly. Blinkers now added to usual headgear combination; remains on a long losing run, best left alone.

Ex-French 13-race maiden at up to 1m4f who makes his stable\GB\Fibresand debut. Stamina very much an unknown as is the surface; best watched unless there are any positive market signals.

Failed to convince on Fibresand so far and confirmed that view when running badly here last time, going with little fluency. Work to do with several of these including Tynecastle Park who she finished 73L behind last time.

Had been struggling for form on the Flat of late and it's been a similar story over hurdles (given a very stiff handicap mark); now makes Fibresand debut. Hard to fashion a case for him now on his recent outings with others having more solid claims.

Showed some signs of life back over hurdles last time having looked to be very lethargic and uninterested in two previous AW starts. Well beaten (finished last) on her only previous try on Fibresand; still plenty to prove.

Verdict

A big field but not many come here with a sound chance and this looks another good opportunity for TYNECASTLE PARK to enhance his already outstanding C&D record and follow up his last win here. Wind surgery could assist Shine Baby Shine who hails from a yard in good form; her AW form being much better than her hurdles displays of late. Three-time C&D winner Katie Gale needs to find some form again but does have a lot of ground to make up on the selection on their last meeting. Royal Flag can be given a squeak on his AW form although a break and this new surface do leave some doubts surrounding his chance.
  1. Tynecastle Park
  2. Shine Baby Shine
  3. Royal Flag
