Beaten quite a long way on both starts for Jim Boyle. Starts out for a new stable and can only be watched until showing more.
Big prices, but has hinted at ability in two runs over 6f at this track. Step up in distance may help, but much more is needed.
Foxwedge filly whose dam won over 1m on the AW. Belated start to her racing career and is likely to be wiser for the experience.
Placed only once in nine starts over a variety of distances. No obvious reason why she should be winning a maiden at the age of seven.
Xtension colt who fetched £115,000 as a yearling and is bred to have plenty of speed. Slowly away when down the field on debut at Wolverhampton, but may do better.
Slade Power colt who cost 80,000 gns as a two-year-old and is a half-sister to a couple of winners from 6f to 1m. Wears a hood on debut, which suggests he may be a little headstrong, but certainly worth a check in the betting.
Gelded son of Magician out of a useful sprinter. Quite a nice pedigree and no surprise to see market support for him on debut.
Showcasing colt who fetched 150,000 gns as a yearling and is from a family packed with winners. Needed his debut run over 6f at this track and should be sharper this time.
Slade Power colt who was bought for.€100,000 as a yearling. A half-brother to four talented winners, he makes plenty of appeal on breeding and is interesting on his racecourse bow.
Well held on both starts over 7f and 1m at this venue. Will probably be more effective when switched to handicaps.
Gelded son of Coach Horse who fetched £22,000 as a yearling and is a half-brother to a 1m AW winner. Best watched on debut.
Daughter of Charm Spirit who cost 40,000 gns as a foal and is a half-sister to four winners from 7f to 1m4f. Makes some appeal on paper, but may need this initial outing.
Daughter of Nathaniel who is a half-sister to a filly placed over 6f and 7f. Respected stable in fine form so well worth a market check on debut.
Forecasts
Charlie Arthur (9/4), Songkran (4/1), Spirit Of Angel (5/1), Fox Happy (6/1), Assimilation (10/1), I'm Available (10/1), Circle Of Stars (11/1), Doti (20/1), Tulloona (25/1), Storm Boy (66/1), Spirit Of Epsom (125/1), Valentine Mist (200/1), Sionnach Rua (200/1)
None of those with racecourse experience make much appeal, so this is likely to go to a newcomer. I'm Available, Doti, Circle Of Stars and Charlie Arthur all catch the eye, but SONGKRAN boasts arguably the best pedigree and he makes most appeal, although the market will probably be the best guide to the outcome of this maiden.
- Songkran
