Newcomer by Ravens Pass cost €30,000 as a yearling out of a placed dam from a decent family from 7f-1m4f. Already gelded and represents yard not known for two-year-old success so best watched.

Son of Heeraat was down the field in a 5f Wolverhampton contest a fortnight ago eventually finishing ninth of 11. Learn a bit from that but still best watched today.

€25,000 son of Vale Of York is a half-brother to a 7f-1m Italian winner who won at two and at Listed level. Trainer in fine form and recently had a two-year-old debut winner so expecting a bold bid.

Improved his finishing position each time culminating in a strong finishing third at Kempton latest over this trip. That form may well be the best on offer and looks to have a good chance barring a smart newcomer being in the field.

Newcomer by Pastoral Pursuits is a half-brother to a 1m6f AW winner out of a placed dam over 7f-1m1f. Likely he needs further and more time to show best form.

Excelebration filly is yet to beat a rival with a last of nine at Chelmsford followed by a last of 12 at Kempton. No evidence to recommend involvement.

Last of 13 on debut at Kempton and only marginally better there next when 11th of 13. Can't recommend anything more than a watching brief.

Filly by Born To Sea was 200/1 on debut at Kempton so an eighth of nine finish wasn't a major surprise. Again anything but a minor role hard to envisage.

Showed some pace on debut at Wolverhampton before fading out of it and finishing ninth of 11. More to come now one would imagine and has place potential here.

Showed some pace on debut before dropping back rapidly into 11th of 13 at Kempton beaten 16½L over 1m. This trip may suit better and has place potential in this ordinary looking contest.

Well beaten at Yarmouth on debut back in September and AW surface made little difference next as she could only manage 11th of 13 after three months off at Chelmsford. Hard to fancy.

Ran in same two races as stablemate Miss Communicate and finished even further back than her remote stablemate in each so can't make any sort of a case.

Stayed in into third on debut at Wolverhampton over 6f before finishing fourth there latest over 7f where she travelled well but didn't find a great deal. Form far superior to most and leading claims.

Forecasts

Gin Palace (1/1), Crackling (2/1), Very Dainty (6/1), Baron Slick (17/2), Paddy's Pursuit (14/1), Hanbury Dreams (25/1), Freedreams (33/1), Invincible Sea (66/1), Beg For Mercy (66/1), Miss Communicate (100/1), Two Faced (100/1), Flourishable (100/1), Crakadawn (100/1)

Verdict

This looks a very good opportunity for GIN PALACE to get off the mark based on his latest staying on third at Kempton and in a race lacking strength in depth he is sure to go close. Newcomer Crackling won't need to be anything special to win a race like this and his trainer is in great form and well capable with debutants. Very Dainty isn't far behind the selection form wise but a wide draw isn't ideal.
  1. Gin Palace
  2. Crackling
  3. Very Dainty
