Still a maiden after 11 starts but has placed on two of his three runs over C&D and not disgraced last time when not seen to best effect when racing wide. First-time visor goes on and can't be discounted.

Each of his last six wins have come over C&D, though is yet to win off this mark. Impressive when justifying favouritism two starts back and while he couldn't back that up last time, he's hard to put a line through. Each-way player.

Losing run is starting to mount up but unlucky not to have got his head in front on his last couple of starts. Has become very well-handicapped and won't be far away if he takes to this surface on Fibresand debut.

On a long losing run since winning at Lingfield (AW) in February 2017. Starts out for a new yard here but his propensity to miss the break has to be considered an obvious negative here.

Largely in good form this summer and won on AW at Newcastle before winning twice on turf at Ayr. Hasn't been running to that level in recent starts though and probably best watched on handicap debut.

Won twice on turf as a juvenile for Ed Walker but he's shown nothing in three AW starts for his new yard, virtually tailed off last time at Kempton and seemingly best watched at present. Fibresand debut.

Finally found some form when switched to AW this summer and followed up with a success at Musselburgh. Back on track with another Newcastle win last time out and a 4lb rise could be a shade lenient for that. Interesting on Fibresand debut.

Useful AW performer who is back down to her last winning handicap mark. Has a habit of starting slowly, an obvious negative around here but drawn well if she can get away on terms and not one to rule out on Fibresand debut.

Won from a higher mark than this last year but she's been inconsistent subsequently and tends to run her best races when held up, a racing style often not suited to this track. Makes Fibresand debut and perhaps best watched this time.

Sole AW win in 14 starts came over 7f here and had been running well over C&D before a below par effort last time. Probably has a race in him off this mark and holds solid each-way claims here.

Forecasts

Mametz Wood (4/1), Fingal's Cave (5/1), Break The Silence (5/1), Ascot Week (11/2), The Groove (11/2), Shearian (8/1), Dashing Poet (10/1), Coviglia (10/1), Angel's Acclaim (12/1), Street Poet (12/1), Spirit Of Sarwan (33/1), Enzo (33/1)

Verdict

FINGAL'S CAVE has been running well of late and with a solid chance he will take to this surface, he could be hard to beat from this sort of handicap mark. Mametz Wood is worthy of plenty of respect in first-time headgear while six-time course and distance winner Shearian shouldn't be far away, despite probably being a little too high in the handicap to be considered for win purposes.
