Hasn't raced here since his debut but not disgraced on last three starts in a higher grade and now 2lb below last winning mark. Drop in trip and grade should suit and likely to go close.

Gained a third career win on his second start for new yard but has struggled in four starts since and hard to fancy following latest tailed-off effort.

Returns from a break, can go well fresh and on a competitive mark at present. Losing run now stretches back to November 2015 but no surprise to see him placed again back on the AW.

Didn't make the track for John Gosden but bought by current connections for 17,000 gns in July and has shown ability in all three starts. Best run came over this C&D and on a workable mark on handicap debut. Could go close.

Now 2lb below last winning mark which came here but needs to bounce back from three disappointing runs and others look stronger.

Easy winner over further at this track three starts back but has struggled off new mark in two runs since. Down 1lb but others look better handicapped.

Disappointed for a third time over 1m2f and best to forgive that run. Prior had got up late for back-to-back wins and remains on a competitive mark. Leading contender.

Had been progressing until failing to handle soft ground on latest run. Easy to forgive that and could be competitive on AW debut.

Ex-Irish and a seven-race maiden who showed promise on stable debut but has been disappointing twice since. Remains best watched.

Returned from an absence to breakthrough on career start 15 in a bunch finish over this C&D. 2lb rise shouldn't be a problem but she didn't do a lot when hitting the front and this may prove tougher.

10-race maiden hasn't yet fulfilled the promise of her first two runs. Better at Lingfield latest and should be suited by drop in trip. Place possibilities.

Forecasts

Merweb (13/8), The Eagle's Nest (3/1), Ruby Gates (8/1), Ebbisham (10/1), Magwadiri (12/1), Sosian (16/1), Steal The Scene (16/1), Cascella (16/1), Foxy Lady (20/1), Ascot Week (25/1), International Law (25/1), Havana Go (40/1), Mr Red Clubs (50/1)

Verdict

The Eagle's Nest has to be respected down in grade in what appears to be a wide-open contest. It may be best to put a line through the run of Ascot Week over a distance too far and he had previously been in very good form while likewise Cascella had excuses last time. Steal The Scene shouldn't be far away but preference is for MERWEB who is on an attractive opening mark based on his C&D run and represents an in-form stable.

  3. The Eagle's Nest
