Left John Gosden for 28,000 gns at the Newmarket July sales as a turf maiden, and he has finished dead last on both starts for new yard. Better on AW, but has a huge amount to prove at present.

2015 Queens Vase runner-up who has struggled since, and although he's won here, that victory came in a 5f maiden. Cheekpieces tried now, and others preferred.

Useful front-runner on his day, but has been well below form in five starts this year, and although the handicapper has cut him some slack, he needs to prove his old ability remains.

Has progressed well since winning a maiden at Windsor in August, and best effort to date when second of 10 to Fresh Terms in a 1m2f handicap there last time. Unexposed, and big chance if handling Fibresand.

Fairly useful maiden for John Oxx, and developed into a decent hurdler for current yard. Every chance if that ability remains intact, but he's been off the course for almost three years, which raises significant concerns.

Below form at present, but best efforts have come here, and has finished no worse than third in nine starts here in the past four years. No surprise if he bounced back to form now.

Found plenty to win on AW debut at Newcastle on penultimate start, but finished weakly back on turf at Redcar last time. May do better on this surface, but not entirely convincing overall.

Yet to score this year, but went very close at Windsor in may, and generally running at least respectably since. Handicapper has given her a lifeline, and she can't be ruled out.

Victoria Drummond18
Age: 3|  Weight: 9-2| J: P J McDonald| T: C & M Johnston| OR:  79

Showed a little ability in maidens in January, but much improved when landing a 1m5½f novice at Chelmsford last month. Drop in trip not ideal, but stiff nature of this track should offset that, and she could well progress further.

Age: 4|  Weight: 8-13| J: A Mullen| T: M Appleby| OR:  71| CD

Respected on form of his C&D win in January, but isn't one to trust implicitly, and has looked unwilling more often than not on recent starts.

Monzino18
Age: 10|  Weight: 8-7| J: Aaron Mackay(7)| T: M C Chapman| OR:  45| CD
100/1
Six time Flat winner, including over C&D, but most recent victory came in February 2015. Likely to struggle racing from a long way out of the handicap.

Forecasts

Maybe Today (6/4), Victoria Drummond (4/1), Luv U Whatever (13/2), Karezak (8/1), Amazing Michele (10/1), All My Love (12/1), Tommy Docc (16/1), Sands Chorus (20/1), Epitaph (25/1), Dommersen (33/1), Monzino (100/1)

Verdict

MAYBE TODAY is totally unexposed and on the upgrade, so it should pay to ignore her lack of Fibresand experience. Chelmsford winner Victoria Drummond makes her handicap debut on the back of a much-improved effort, so merits respect, and Karezak would have a big chance on his old form, so isn't ignored despite this being his first run in nearly three years.
