Built on the promise of a midfield effort on debut at Newbury in a warm looking contest when winning over C&D last time out where he won by 1¼L. Carries a penalty for that but with race conditions the weight isn't too high so leading player again.

Elzaam colt whose price rose from €13,000 as a foal to €26,000 as a yearling. Leading stable capable of readying a newcomer so market check advised here.
Newcomer by Dream Ahead cost €22,000 as a yearling as a half-brother to a 1m5f AW and 6f turf winner. Trainer just three from 60 with two-year-olds in 2018 so other newcomers appeal more.

Unplaced in eight starts to date but ran quite well of late, especially in handicaps including latest sixth of 12 at Yarmouth. Unlikely to be up to this however and trainer none from 48 with two-year-olds.

Newcomer by Mukhadram cost 18,000gns as a half-brother to a 6½f winner in Germany from an unraced dam from a speedy family. Yard not known for first-time out two-year-olds so probably best watched.

Two remote efforts so far with an 11th of 13 at Salisbury and 12th of 13 at Newbury. This may rate a little easier but hard to find any real encouragement.

11,000gns yearling by Helmet is half-brother to a fair 1m winner out of an unraced mare. Trainer's record with two-year-olds enough to suggest no more than a watching brief.

Left remote Goodwood debut behind when second of 12 at Lingfield over 7f where only the Sir Michael Stoute trained favourite proved too strong. That form rock solid for a contest like this and rates a leading contender.

Green on debut at Windsor in August but knew the job better when fifth of 14 over C&D latest after a two-month break. Another step forward needed here but that remains possible so has each-way claims.

Newcomer by Sepoy cost 18,000gns as a yearling as a half-sister to three winners including a 7f AW two-year-old scorer. Trainer one two-year-old winner from last 93 runners so best watched for now.

Dandy Man filly was soundly beaten (12½L) into fourth of eight on debut at Goodwood on soft ground last month. More needed now but such conditions rarely suit newcomers so no surprise if we see a much improved effort.

Finished ninth beaten 7L on C&D debut but no signs of progress in second start on turf where she was again ninth but beaten 17L over 1m. This may suit better but needs a significant step up.

Followed up seconds at Chelmsford and Wolverhampton with a C&D third of 14 latest. All three runs to date solid so very much on the shortlist here and gets weight from main rivals.

Forecasts

Mums Hope (9/4), Spencers Son (9/4), Fancy Flyer (11/2), Lexington Palm (6/1), Emily's Sea (8/1), Duke Debonair (12/1), Milly Monroe (16/1), Solfeggio (25/1), Coolagh Forest (33/1), Altar Boy (33/1), Grandad's Legacy (66/1), Cern (66/1), Threefeetfromgold (66/1), Milistorm (66/1)

Verdict

MUMS HOPE can go one better than her excellent second at Lingfield last time out with scope for further progress given her trainer's two-year-olds are never rushed. The two previous winners Spencers Son and Lexington Palm are both respected with the former's win over C&D particularly appealing while the latter should benefit for an extra furlong.

  3. Lexington Palm
