Hard to train, but has won the same Doncaster handicap on return for last two years. Better efforts since returning from another break when fourth of 11 at Haydock (2m) last time, and encouraging that he's turned out again relatively quickly.
Lightly raced this year, and probably needed the run after four months off at Ascot last time. Should do better now, although probably being primed for a winter campaign on the all-weather.
Won at Carlisle in June, and similar form in frame a few times later in the summer. Ran poorly in a warm handicap at York last time, but this is a bit more realistic, and he's not dismissed.
Best effort this term when second at Windsor in May (fit from hurdling), but not able to build on that, having had a hard race. Bit more like it when fifth of 15 at Catterick last time, but more needed to get heavily involved here.
No win since taking a 1m4f Ripon maiden for William Haggas last summer, but looks capable of rectifying that, and stepped up when a staying-on second to Jedhi over C&D last time. Would benefit from a strong gallop at this trip, and will stay 2m.
Winner at Bath for Seamus Durack in 2016, but beaten in a point-to-point in December, and has been well held on the Flat and over hurdles for current yard this year.
Improved a little when winning a 1m3½f handicap at Yarmouth last month, but disappointing in a similar contest there recently, and needs cheekpieces to bring about some improvement.
Won on first start for this yard back in January but has been out of sorts more recently, including over hurdles. Ran poorly after a break at Goodwood last time, and hard to fancy now.
Won three in a row in 2016 and not disgraced in three starts last year. Has presumably had her problems, though and off almost 15 months before her return last month. Hasn't shown much in two starts back, but possibly still finding full fitness.
Has won low-grade handicaps at Ripon and Catterick this year, but seems best when able to dominate, and weakened tamely on latest outing. This looks too tough.
Forecasts
Lucky Deal (5/2), Tarte Tropezienne (5/2), Potters Lady Jane (6/1), Handiwork (13/2), All My Love (11/1), Airplane (16/1), Sunblazer (16/1), Jack Bear (25/1), Rosie Royale (33/1), Iftiraaq (50/1)
HANDIWORK has clearly had his issues, but it's encouraging that he's turned out fairly quickly after shaping well at Haydock recently, and he has the ability to defy his big weight. Tarte Tropezienne might prefer an even stiffer test, but very much caught the eye over C&D last time, and should go well, with Lucky Deal also considered despite running poorly at York on his latest outing.
- Handiwork
- Tarte Tropezienne
- Lucky Deal
