Appeared to show the benefit of his first try in handicaps when taking a nursery at Thirsk (6f, soft) on his penultimate outing. Not in the same form last time (not seen to best effect; poorly placed); off the same mark here and not without a chance.

Hardly lightly-raced this year (13 runs so far) and successful on a couple of occasions over 5f (has been tried over further). Appeared suited by that trip and the soft ground when wining last time off a 4lb lower mark; chance if coping with 6f trip.

Made the running to get off the mark on his nursery debut showing some improved form and rallying well to land the spoils. Blinkers worn on his last three starts are retained; given a chance of following up although the 5lb rise looks harsh.

Trainer has a good record here but this one only has one respectable piece of nursery form to her name (2nd in a small-field on handicap debut). Appeared all at sea on ground with cut last time and the soft surface here could well hinder.

Now tried in a first-time visor after turning in a modest display at Haydock (5f, soft) last time; never travelling well in first-time cheekpieces. Looked to resent the headgear there and the trip must also be a doubt; others preferred.

Handicap debutante whose three runs so far (all over 6f) have failed to inspire and he looks rather limited on the evidence so far. This looks to hard a test of what appears a stiff mark; best watched.

Took a Musselburgh nursery in September over 5f on quick ground showing improvement for the fitting of blinkers. Hasn't been seen to best effect off a higher mark since over the same C&D (twice); ground/trip could prove an obstacle.

Despite the SP of 33/1 he showed promise on his debut over 6f but has failed to build on that run in two starts since. Now makes his handicap debut stepping back in trip with cheekpieces on for the first-time; more needed to make an impact.

Second runner in the race for this yard who appeared to look on the way back when second on the AW recently (met one on the up). Yet to win a race but should be capable off this mark having run well off a similar rating before; sound chance.

This will be her handicap debut and 4th run overall but she still looks as though she needs more experience and isn't the finished article. She drops back to 6f for the first time but looks more one for next year.

The application of blinkers appeared to bring about some improvement when he was in midfield here on his penultimate start (weak event overall). The same headgear was retained for his nursery debut but he failed to show anything like the same form.

Form looks modest overall and he remains a maiden after six starts having been tried in handicaps the last twice. Ran his best race over C&D last time (first-time cheekpieces); repeat of that would give him a chance.

Looked as though he would improve for the switch to handicaps and so it proved when third over C&D on his debut in this sphere (travelled well). Back on the AW last time he failed to repeat that run; needs to reproduce his previous run here.

Verdict

Not an event that makes much appeal as a betting contest with a very open nature and plenty have question marks against them. Valentino Sunrise and Timetodock both won their last starts but the former may find this 6f a little too far and the rise that the latter was given for his Catterick win looks a little harsh although both should run well. Lang Toun Lady hasn’t been seen to the best effect of late and she makes some appeal although she has to prove herself over 6f. Micronize shapes as the better of the Fahey pair and a repeat of his last run will put him in the mix but a chance is taken with HIGHJACKED. His effort over C&D stacks up well in the context of this off a 1lb lower mark.
  1. Highjacked
  2. Micronize
  3. Timetodock
