$220,000 half-brother to a winner in the US, out of a half-sister to US Grade 2 winner/Kentucky Derby fourth Pulpit. Outpaced on both starts so far and future may lie over a little further. Should be more to come.
$400,000 yearling; third foal; brother to the 1m AW winner Althaaqib. Stayed on steadily over 7f here on debut and this extra furlong looks likely to suit. Player if building on that.
100,000gns son of prolific sire Dark Angel is a half-brother to five winners including 7f two-year-old Group Three scorer Luminous Eyes. In rear and always outpaced on debut at Windsor (1m, soft) three weeks ago. Should have learnt from that.
Son of Scat Daddy that cost a tidy $800,000 as a yearling. Dam an unraced half-sister to 1m4f Listed winner Baby Pink and Listed placed Christophermarlowe. Likely type on paper and should be a leading contender on racecourse debut.
Son of Speightstown. Dam was a useful Group/Grade 2 winner in France and the US and is closely related to some smart performers. Bred for this surface and market very useful.
Out of a mare who was placed in Group 2 Blandford Stakes over 1¼m, herself out of Nell Gwyn winner Lil's Jessy, and half-brother to a pair of 1m maiden winners. Always in rear on debut at Salisbury (1m, good) and will need to do plenty more here.
Colt by Paco Boy out of winning 1m2f mare. Both starts over this C&D so far. Clueless on debut but showed much more on his second start. Further progress is likely.
47,000 gns son of Pour Moi and half-brother to a 7f winner. Badly outpaced on both starts so far including over this trip last time. Sure to be seen to better effect over further in handicaps.
Son of Leroidesanimaux who is a half-brother to a couple of winners over 2m. Looked in need of the experience over 1m2f here on debut and should benefit for that run.
90,000 gns son of Dabirsim out of a French middle-distance winner. Potentially stable first-string based on jockey bookings and interesting to see how he fares in the market.
Son of Oasis Dream. First foal out of a dam that was a two-year-old winner over 1m. yard only had one two-year-old winner this year and likely to need this experience.
Forecasts
Art Song (4/7), Amjaady (9/2), Basilisk (8/1), Sash (12/1), Midport (16/1), Al Thoorayah (20/1), Antidote (25/1), Craneur (33/1), Francisco Bay (33/1), Hydroplane (100/1), Lee Roy (100/1)
Those with experience haven't set the world alight and there is every chance this will go to a newcomer. The Roger Charlton trained pair of Basilisk and Midport are both very interesting, particularly the first named who is bred for this surface. Slight preference is for ART SONG who fetched a tasty $800,000 as a yearling and he is sure to know what is required on racecourse debut.
- Art Song
- Basilisk
