Two efforts at Thirsk earlier in the summer would suggest this should be a workable mark. Filly may find 5f a bit sharp on AW bow. Blinkers added.

Won a claimer over this trip at Beverley in May for Amy Murphy, rarely been able to get a blow in since joining this trainer. Drop in trip a help a plus, but needs to bounce back from poor run last time.

Wore first-time cheekpieces when defying odds of 100/1 to be fourth in 5f York novice last time. Has to be of interest back in a nursery now.

Finished seventh of 10 in nursery at Musselburgh (5f, good) nine days ago. Makes first start on this surface now and interesting to see how market views him.

Beaten only 2L in Redcar novice event last month over 5f, despite three-figure starting price. No threat in nursery at Musselburgh since and perhaps best watched on AW bow.

Last of nine in maiden at Pontefract (5f, good to soft) last month, gets new headgear for this handicap bow and switch to AW, though has to improve.

Form so far in nurseries and claiming company far from inspiring and not too hard to look elsewhere reverting to the AW (beaten 6L over this trip at Kempton in the spring).

Zebedee half-sister to numerous winners, including talented performers Monsieur Chevalier and Outback Traveller. Handicap debut for trainer that tends to do well here, needs monitoring.

Liberty Diva70
Age: 2|  Weight: 9-0| J: Connor Murtagh(5)| T: A Berry| OR:  48

Well beaten off over 7f on nursery bow at Kempton ten weeks ago (wore first-time hood, discarded now). Has since changed hands and drops in distance.

Bungle Billy29
Age: 2|  Weight: 8-12| J: J Mitchell| T: J L Eyre| OR:  45

Three qualifying runs didn't offer much encouragement, easier to look elsewhere ahead of this handicap debut it seems.

Wide margin defeats in all three starts so far, ensuring there's little to recommend going into first handicap start.

Forecasts

One One Seven (5/2), Newgate Angel (9/2), Princess Florence (5/1), The Defiant (6/1), Geography Teacher (7/1), Frosted Lass (7/1), Spring Holly (10/1), Rainbow Beach (10/1), Champagne On Rocks (16/1), Bungle Billy (16/1), Sing Bertie (20/1), Kemmeridge Bay (22/1), Nettie Honeyball (50/1), Liberty Diva (100/1)

Verdict

This is not strong, even for the grade, and the betting may prove informative. Spring Holly represents a yard that does well here but has to improve her form while One One Seven could go well on best form (was poor latest). Newgate Angel went well in a York novice last time and joins The Defiant in the race for places but perhaps the gelded SING BERTIE will have more to offer now starting in handicaps. He has run in better novice events, and is a speculative selection off a break.
  1. Sing Bertie
  2. Spring Holly
  3. Newgate Angel
