Took to this headgear combination over the C&D when winning an overdue third career win. 6lb penalty shouldn't be an issue but isn't entirely straightforward and not certain to produce the same performance.
Decisive winner of a Wolverhampton claimer before being tailed off back on turf. Down in grade but hard to be confident in off the back of that.
Suffered from a wide draw at Kempton and has fallen to a good mark. However form for current trainer has deteriorated and others preferred despite the welcome drop in grade.
Returns on a competitive mark on first start since February, however likely to need the run over a trip which is shorter than ideal.
Only up 2lb for a front running success over this C&D. Should be competitive off this mark, however wide draw to contend with and did get an uncontested lead last time.
Ran well at Newbury on handicap debut but has disappointed in three runs since including on recent return. Up in trip but others look stronger candidates.
Front runner who is back on a decent mark but has yet to place in four starts on the AW and was very disappointing at Yarmouth last start. Stable a bit quiet at present and needs first-time blinkers to lift him.
Shown improvement since wind surgery and followed breakthrough win with a luckless fourth behind The Warrior over this C&D. Gets a 5lb pull for two lengths and remains lightly-raced.
Only had the five starts and now has finished second four times in a row. The Haydock form has worked out well and then was unlucky at Bath. Likely to go close again.
Disappointed off lower mark on turf but is a better horse on the AW. However returns on quite a high mark and would prefer a furlong shorter.
Maiden following eight starts and hasn't progressed in four starts this year. Likely strong pace may help him settle better but needs to find extra.
Seven-race maiden who showed promise at Windsor in June but disappointing in three runs since. Best watched on this drop in trip.
Forecasts
Goodwood Showman (7/4), The Warrior (5/1), Space Talk (6/1), Arctic Sea (7/1), Noble Peace (8/1), Blaze Of Hearts (16/1), Marble Bar (20/1), Graceful James (25/1), Oliver Reed (25/1), Fashaak (25/1), Vanity Vanity (33/1), Ubla (33/1)
Arctic Sea has to be respected following his C&D win but got to set slow fractions and there's plenty of rivals for the pace in what looks likely to a truly run race. Goodwood Showman is taken to reverse form with The Warrior after meeting trouble more than once in defeat here last time. SPACE TALK likewise recently met trouble and although she continues to finish runner-up, has done little wrong in defeat and is progressing with each start.
- Space Talk
- Goodwood Showman
- Arctic Sea
