Made all when winning off this mark at Newmarket (1m) in August, but not as competitive in three starts since; 0-5 on the AW, albeit with placed form, including over C&D 12 months ago (for William Muir).
Placed here on three occasions between January and March (7f-1m), and competes off a very similar mark tonight; likely to prove sharper with a recent run under his belt and with SDS booked.
Edging up the weights after showing improvement in handicaps - narrow winner at Windsor (1m) in July; first-time cheekpieces are applied seeking that extra ounce of further progress.
Dual winner on turf at around this trip, but a bitter disappointment on both starts in 2018 and off the track since June; gelded.
Fully effective at this track (four-time C&D winner); beaten narrowly off this mark by Lacan here in March, and hasn't seen too much racing since; better for his recent reappearance (finished two places in front of Cainhoe Star).
With William Haggas when landing the odds in a 1m+ Wolverhampton maiden in March; shown broadly similar form since (including on handicap debut at Yarmouth); off since June and now with a new trainer.
Still an AW maiden (0-5), but beaten just a neck at Kempton (1m) in October 2017 when in the care of Tom Clover; excuses latest (hampered), but wouldn't appear to be obviously well handicapped; looks vulnerable.
Two-time Kempton winner (7f-1m) who was also successful on turf at Salisbury (1m) last month, beating The Groove by 1½L.; races off a joint-career high mark now (73), but better than he demonstrated behind Mutanaasib at Lingfield (2/1f) latest.
Has done the bulk of her racing in handicaps on the AW (also a C&D maiden winner in December 2017), but wasn't disgraced when finishing 3L third of five to Highland Pass in a 1m Class 3 fillies' handicap latest; place chance.
Emphatic winner in soft ground over an extended mile at Hamilton ten days ago, and reappears carrying a 6lb penalty; pedigree suggests he'll be fine on an artificial surface, so seemingly rates as the horse to beat.
€65,000 yearling who has made slow progress, albeit has improved since switched to handicapping; keeping on steadily from the rear when finishing just over 2L third to Optimum Time at Lingfield (1m standard) latest.
Forecasts
Quality Seeker (7/2), Fortune And Glory (9/2), Rampant Lion (6/1), Cainhoe Star (7/1), Martineo (8/1), Samphire Coast (10/1), Archie (10/1), Wicker (12/1), Destroyer (16/1), Mutanaasib (16/1), Rosarno (20/1)
RAMPANT LION finally lived up to his name when running out an emphatic three-plus length winner of a soft ground Class 5 handicap at Hamilton ten days ago, and with a pedigree which implies that this surface won't hinder his chances of following up appears to be the horse to beat under his mandatory 6lb penalty. Others worthy of note include the filly Wicker who ran well (third) on turf at Newmarket the weekend before last and the Chelmsford regulars Samphire Coast and Cainhoe Star who should both prove sharper for a recent run.
- Rampant Lion
- Wicker
- Cainhoe Star
