Won first three races and also Group One placed at two but that a distant memory with no wins since. Couple of decent runs this season in class 2 handicaps but struggled again latest In Group Three. Huge drop in class and big chance now.
Four-time winner including latest in a 7f Leicester handicap (good to firm). Handles cut in the ground and stays 1m so should be equally as effective here and is one of the few arriving in good order.
A winner on Newmarket's Rowley Mile in April but burst a blood vessel there next and had to be pulled-up. Recent return at Ascot after a lengthy break saw him sixth of nine so more needed although should strip fitter now.
Mixed form this summer and out of sorts latest when 8L seventh to London Protocol on heavy ground at Carlisle. 7lb better off with that rival today and top jockey booked so expecting him to at least be competitive.
Not the first time he had shown a liking for testing conditions when winning a 1m handicap on heavy ground latest at Carlisle where he galloped his rivals into submission. Yard has two chances here and this leading candidate looks the best of them.
Three-time winner including first-time out this season at Yarmouth (1m). Not run a bad race in four subsequent starts so arrives in form good enough to consider but the red flag is his complete lack of experience in testing conditions.
Landed an AW four-timer in the Winter and having run poorly in three subsequent turf runs he managed a much better effort latest in a 7f Sandown claimer under this jockey when second. Handles cut in the ground so could go well again.
Soft ground winner last season has had a frustrating 2018 with no wins or places on her record including when getting similar conditions latest at Hamilton. Dangerously well handicapped now but cant take advantage of that from out of the handicap.
Dropped back successfully from 1m to win a 6f Windsor contest in the stewards room before another good effort over the trip at Ffos Las next. Won four times over 1m so return to the trip no problem but tough ask from 7lb out of the handicap.
Forecasts
South Seas (11/4), London Protocol (4/1), Enigmatic (9/2), Mukalal (6/1), Examiner (8/1), Mister Music (12/1), Sir Roderic (12/1), Seduce Me (16/1), Lamloom (20/1)
Not too many obvious candidates here but LONDON PROTOCOL has very strong claims based on his good win at Carlisle last time in testing conditions so he gets the nod. Smart two-year-old South Seas has been disappointing overall but his best form this season would put him firmly in the thick of things here and he could appreciate this big drop in class. Also on the shortlist is Mukalal who won last time out and he has few obvious weaknesses.
- London Protocol
- South Seas
- Mukalal
