Becoming more favourably handicapped following some stiff tasks since his easy Lingfield success. Rider good value for his 5lb claim and sure to be thereabouts back in a grade where he is 4-17 (placed a further six times).
Shaped as though the run was needed on return and earns a 3lb drop as a result. Connections love to have a winner here but rain would greatly enhance his prospects.
Has wintered well after a busy juvenile campaign and followed his Bath success with a career best at Sandown. Races off 4lb higher, but progressing well and no reason why he should not prove as effective at 6f provided it stays dry.
Progressive this season and settled much better when just edged out last time off today's mark. Has to be shortlisted.
Climbed the ranks this year having won three times already. Based on his last three efforts it looks like the handicapper has now caught up with him.
Not progressed since winning at Lingfield in May (7f, good), and still 3lb above that winning mark. Has not seen out his last few races and he now reverts to sprinting.
Inconsistent sort got a marginal call in the stewards room 10 days ago and his penalty makes him less favourably handicapped.
Better in more modest company than this and has been well beaten on his last four starts in this grade.

Beyond Equal (3/1), Smokey Lane (7/2), Diamond Dougal (6/1), Del Parco (6/1), Sir Roderic (13/2), Harry Beau (7/1), Ashpan Sam (9/1), Stanhope (12/1), Satchville Flyer (33/1)
Smokey Lane is the best handicapped horse in this but rain would help him considerably. Sir Roderic divided opinion when awarded a race by the stewards so this promises to be tough under a penalty. Del Parco is interesting dropping back in trip as he has appeared to over-race recently, whilst Diamond Dougal and Beyond Equal are progressive but fully weighted. With that in mind ASHPAN SAM is taken to defy topweight given his strong record in this grade, two previous good runs here and his rider's claim bringing him down to a favourable mark.
- Ashpan Sam
- Smokey Lane
- Diamond Dougal
