In reasonable form on AW lately, but well treated on last year's form and this former C&D winner would have claims now dropped in grade, particularly if the ground turns soft. Wide draw to overcome, but interesting.

Former Charlie Appleby inmate. Limited to just six starts in almost two years. Well held from 2lb higher on stable debut at Wetherby (1m, good to firm) in June. Unexposed. Market check.

Both wins came as a juvenile over 7½f at Beverley (good to firm/good to soft) in 2016, the latter from this mark. Showed signs of a revival from 2lb higher last time, but more needed.

Has gone 18-races since his debut success on Kempton's Polytrack last year. Beaten 5-4 favourite in a Catterick claimer two starts ago, he actually looked like he might win last time, but again found something to beat him. Risky.

Fast ground lover who does not look as effective when soft is in the going description. Scored at Wetherby (1m2f, good to firm) when 3lb lower in June, but has a few things to prove and a wide draw to contend with.

Won a Redcar maiden (good to soft) last year and added a York handicap (1m1f, good to firm) in June, when 3lb lower. Has been unable to eclipse that performance since, but was not far off it at Hamilton last time. Not ruled out.

Has won from higher marks on AW, though 0-7 on turf, where his best form has been on fast ground. Claims if able to reproduce his best effort of last year, when 2lb higher, and not written off.

Not ground dependent. Won here over C&D last year, when 4lb higher, as part of a purple patch, but has been unable to run to anything like that level this term. Can only watch on what we have seen lately.

Sole success came in a 1m2f Sandown maiden (good to firm) when with Richard Hannon last year. Unable to add to that on either AW or turf since. Handicapper relenting and has an inside draw, but others have more compelling cases.

Has won four times at this or similar trips, with three of those coming from higher marks. Returned from almost a year off at Pontefract recently, when he may have needed the run. Acts on good to soft and a revival is not ruled out.

Ended a 24-race losing run with success at Pontefract last time out (1m, good to firm). Acts on good to soft. Up 2lb for that win, which came in slightly better company. Claims, though he too has a wide draw to overcome.

Won this race last year (good), when 4lb higher and from one stall wider. Well treated on that evidence, especially with 3lb claimed. Not ground dependent. Hinted at revival last time and another big effort would not surprise.

Almost three years since her sole turf win at Catterick (7f, good), from 1lb higher. Won twice on AW over 1m in 2016, but has drawn a blank since and recent rain will have done her cause no good.

Verdict

A very tough race to call, given that several with claims have wide draws against them and much will depend on who gets into their preferred positions early. Last year's winner Rosy Ryan looks as though she could have been laid out for a repeat, although this year she is not in the same sort of form. The three drawn wide who look to have claims are Instant Attraction, now dropped in grade, Pumaflor, after his win last time and STUBYTUESDAY. The latter has the worst draw of the lot, but can be ridden various ways and the key to him is being fresh and some cut. Billy Roberts, The Eagle's Nest and Give It Some Teddy are others not ruled out.
