Clearly not the force of old but has dropped a couple of recent hints that he might still be capable of winning a race such as this, and the handicapper is giving him every chance. Should stay this trip, and every chance if he does.
Another that looks very well handicapped on the best of his form and now dropping into Class 6 company for the first time in a long while (three times a winner in the grade). Trip asks a slight question but not out of it.
Worth a try at this trip as he's looked short of pace over shorter trips, has won one over hurdles for this yard (weak event) but doesn't always look the most cooperative sort, and others make a bit more appeal.
Pops up from time to time and has a decent enough record at the track (a win and two places from six starts), poor effort over hurdles at Uttoxeter last time needs forgiving but the sort to win without warning.
Irish raider, looks nicely enough treated on hurdles form and has shown a bit more oomph on his last couple of efforts. Overall win rate is very modest but has won on these shores before and as such, can't be totally ruled out.
Stays all day and won this off a mark 2lb higher a couple of years ago. Seems to thrive on trips in excess of 2m, and there are possible excuses for a couple of recent efforts, so could easily bounce back.
Has been a wonderful servant to connections over the years and still shows plenty of enthusiasm for the job, as when successful over hurdles in June. On a fair mark now and if on a going day, holds place chances.
Stopped quickly at Bangor last time (well backed) and something might have been amiss, better judged on his C&D second the time before where he gave the impression this trip would be fine.
Not seen out since May but has gone okay fresh in the past, so that absence not an issue, but only has the three wins in 44 starts to his name and has plenty on his plate here.
Showed a glimmer of ability at Wolverhamptonin July but nothing in any of his others three starts (including one in Sweden last time out). Takes a big step up in trip and hard to make a case for.
Has shown a bit more on his last couple of starts since joining Sue Gardner, both low-grade handicaps, but they were over shorter trips than today and on breeding, he might find this a stretch. Others preferred.
Only had the seven starts, and is at least open to some improvement, but dropped out of it a bit tamely at Ayr last time and has an extra three furlongs to travel here. Something to prove.
Has run better since going handicapping on last two starts, and given the way she plugged on over 2m at Wolverhampton in July, this trip could suit. Open to improvement and has the services of a good apprentice. One to be interested in.
Forecasts
Cue's Folly (11/4), Massini's Trap (9/2), Contented (11/2), King Calypso (7/1), Almontaser (8/1), Planetoid (10/1), Danglydontask (12/1), Nordenfelt (16/1), Our Folly (20/1), Aristocracy (20/1), Grams And Ounces (22/1), Hereyouare (50/1), Agreement (80/1)
Danglydontask enjoys these tests of stamina and could put a couple of moderate runs behind him but CUE'S FOLLY is lightly raced, gets the allowances here and looks ready for a crack at a trip such as this. The in-form apprentice Nicola Currie is booked to do the steering and her 3lb means he's carrying very little weight. Aristocracy hails from a yard coming out of a poor spell and may run better, and top weight Planetoid will find this an easier task and could easily get involved.
- Cue's Folly
