Won this race off the same mark 12 months ago so clearly likes this sharp round mile. Placed a number of times since that success and could be dangerous if he gets the run of the race.

Scored off 3lb lower mark at Wetherby in June over 1m2f but ran poorly at that trip at Pontefract last time. Drops back to a mile and may once again find a few too good.

Ex-French Shamardal gelding who has a 7f soft ground winner to his name. Making debut for new yard and will do well to score at the first time of asking in what is likely to be a fast and furious contest.

Raced prominently when winning at Haydock penutimate start but less good when held up last time and last of nine at Ayr. 5lb higher than his win and may just about be in the grip of the handicapper.

Won at Redcar over a mile in June 2017 but absent 11 months until returning to the fray here over seven furlngs recently. Better for that run, is fairly weighted and good apprentice claims further 5lb so is well worth considering.

13lb lower now than when joining current yard from Marcus Tregoning in March this year. Has run a few fair races when placed since then in higher class, so is of interest now tried in first-time blinkers.

Best with give underfoot and that appears unlikely given the current forecast. Has a chance on best form but on balance may find things happening rather too quick under these conditions.

Unexposed ex-French maiden, made a fine start for new yard when failing by just a nose at Leicester over this trip last week despite pulling hard early. Runs off same mark and fascinating to see how he fairs in the hurly burly of this big field.

Battled to neck success over C&D in June and is now 3lb higher. Not disgraced in two runs since off higher mark so may be there or thereabouts once again.

Did well last autumn winning on soft ground over C&D and placing on three further occasions. Not so good this year though and it's begining to looks as though she may not have trained on.

Two wins last year off marks up to 78. 4lb lower here but this veteran hasn't been showing a great deal of spark this term and others are preferred.

Ideally suited by soft ground so the mrnoe rain the better for this six-year-old gelding. Ran well enough when third at Ayr last month and probably didn't stay when disappointing over further last time out.

Won here over 6f last year and has scored twice this campaign at Carlisle over six and seven furlongs. Worth a try over an extra furlong although easy ground would be a stamina concern.

Two wins last term off marks in the high 70's but hasn't run anywhere near that level since. Now down to 70 and good claimer takes another 5lb off. Worth noting for any market move.

Yet to convince she's closing in on her juvenile form so despite being eased 2lb since her last run looks as though this might be a tough task.

Did really well last term winning three times, including two successes at a mile. Has yet to show anything like that level of form this time around and despite fall in in her mark is hard to recommend.

Six-race maiden but has shown bits and pieces of form to suggest he is up to winning in handicap company at some point. Satyed on when sixth at Chelmsford last time and has been eased 2lb. Remains a 1lb out of the handicap though.

Forecasts

Autretot (5/2), Storm Ahead (7/1), Uncle Charlie (9/1), Mon Beau Visage (9/1), Mango Chutney (12/1), Music Seeker (14/1), Boots And Spurs (14/1), Che Bella (16/1), Intense Style (16/1), Mustaqbal (16/1), Fingal's Cave (16/1), Shazzab (18/1), Chosen World (25/1), Lagenda (33/1), Torrid (33/1), Zorawar (33/1), Showboating (40/1), Rosy Ryan (66/1)

Verdict

STORM AHEAD and Autretot are the two of particularly interest in an open mile handicap. Storm Ahead has fallen to a good mark and hinted he still retains ability, so in the first-time blinkers he could well bounce back. Ex-French racer Autretot failed by a whisker to make a winning debut at Leicester recently and if in similar form than has to be a danger. Torrid might be approaching concert pitch having had a sighter following a long lay off, while last year's winner Mon Beau Visage goes well here and is not out of it despite having to shoulder top weight.
  1. Storm Ahead

  3. Torrid
