In good form at present, winner at Lingfield two starts ago and maybe did too much too soon when third here on Tuesday night. This is an easier race too, so every chance of getting back on the winning trail.
Inconsistency has crept into his work, two good efforts at Wetherby and Catterick this summer sandwiched between two lesser ones, Can be keen in his races and needs a good pace. Declared to race at Beverley yesterday.
Yard do well with their sprinters and this one makes her handicap debut after three reasonable efforts in novice races. Might not want too much rain and not obviously well treated, but respected from this yard all the same.
Found some form in June, runner up here before winning at Thirsk but has gone off the boil since then and might still be a pound or two too high in the handicap at present. Others make more appeal.
Two wins in 36 starts, both of those coming last summer but has yet to recapture those glories and his recent form has been moderate. Fallen to a tempting mark, but not tempting enough.
Lightly raced and showed her first real form when second at Wolverhampton in February but not seen out since then and usual hood is missing today. Best watched with a view to the future.
Has some plus points, namely a win at the track and she will act with some cut, so no issue if the rains did arrive, but in no form to speak of and was last of nine at Chelmsford last time. Risky, but a market move would make her more interesting.
No win in 30 starts and tailed off last two, albeit over 7f. Drop back to six may help but overall profile is far form strong, and others make far more appeal.
No win in 11 starts and withdrawn at Brighton last time due to soft ground, so wants the rain to stay away. Ran a little better than finishing position suggested at Yarmouth last time but that was a weak contest. Others preferred.
Forecasts
Spin Top (9/4), Madam Devious (10/3), Young Tiger (5/1), Optimickstickhill (11/2), Lady Joanna Vassa (12/1), Kodimoor (12/1), Poppy Jag (14/1), Amazing Amaya (33/1), Iconic Figure (100/1)
Good recent form is thin on the ground here, and as long as SPIN TOP is over her exertions earlier in the week then she has as good a chance as anything of getting back on the winning trail. She seemed to act with cut in the ground, so the rain shouldn't be a problem, and can outclass these. Lady Joanna Vassa has all sorts of risks attached to her but she has some things in her favour (ground, track) and a better effort wouldn't surprise. Madam Devious is at least open to some improvement.
