Good fourth at Goodwood before a tough ask in top handicap at the same track. Poor-strike rate overall and still 3lb higher than last winning mark but has been rated much higher in the past and has to be respected back in grade.
Won the 2017 Lincoln on stable debut last year but was well beaten fresh this time. Dropping in the weights and could come on for the run with any rain a bonus. Trainer won this in 2012 & 2013 and also runs Hajjam.
A very consistent 7f specialist who once again ran a fine race when a close seventh in the International Stakes at Ascot. He was again hitting the line strongly and his only previous try over further was inconclusive due to a slow pace.
Running nicely into form on his last three starts but hasn't been running on that suggested he needed another step back up to this trip. Doesn't win too often but is on a fair mark to be competitive.
Won three in a row in lower grades and rose 16lb in the process. Backed it up with a close third off new mark in a strong Ayr handicap and should be in the mix again. Stable, who won this in 2010 & 2011, also run Fashion Theory.
Struggling off a high mark when beaten last twice, paying the price for a very good 2017. Likely to need more than a 2lb reduction before winning again at this level.
Had form on soft ground in France but had hit form on quick ground with a win and a second. Perhaps the last run just came too soon but either way more required off this revised mark.
Made all to win at Newmarket and on a good run of consistent form. Should make another game bid but more required off 2lb higher in stronger company.
In decent form with a couple of good seconds before disappointing last time. Probably didn't like the easier going and would prefer for things to remain on the quick side. However this is a stiffer class of company.
Forecasts
Hajjam (5/2), Brother McGonagall (9/2), Masham Star (5/1), Raselasad (6/1), Destroyer (8/1), Fashion Theory (9/1), Bravery (14/1), Horsted Keynes (20/1), Mywayistheonlyway (22/1)
Brother McGonagall has been so progressive this campaign and ran close in a bid for a four-timer in a stronger handicap. With Destroyer, Raselasad and Masham Star joining him in there's likely to be plenty who want to race on the front and he won't want to get into a pace battle. A strong pace may go against Horsted Keynes stepping up in trip but fellow 7f specialist HAJJAM has always been a strong traveller who hits the line well and there's no reason why he shouldn't get this trip and is worth taking a chance with.
- Hajjam
- Masham Star
- Brother McGonagall
