Produced his best form so far on ground with soft in the description coming back from a break and being gelded by landing a 1m Doncaster handicap. Ran no sort of race last time and now steps onto the AW for the first-time with something to prove.

Twice a course winner (7f) taking a handicap when he was fresh earlier in the year and followed up with another good C&D effort. Not seen here since (three runs on turf) and looks as though he will be suited by a return; not the easiest to trust.

Fair handicapper who hasn't won since 2015 and wasn't seen at his best last year but did run with some credit last time with his usual visor left off. That was his first run back from a wind op and this run may tell us more off a reducing mark.

Returned to form from out of the blue last time in a first-time visor dropping back to his last winning mark. Has to now repeat that run having found some form with the visor now replaced by first-time blinkers; raised 3lb (rated higher in past).

Back to his last winning mark and running with credit this year although his best form has come with some give in the ground. Not had ideal conditions/race tactics in any of his starts this year and may just come up short again.

Newmarket Warriorp25
Age: 7|  Weight: 9-7| J: Callum Rodriguez(3)| T: I Jardine| OR:  73| CD

Triple C&D winner who has a good overall record here and always looks at his best in these circumstances. Tends to travel well here and ran well in a race that is working out quite nicely last time; hard to ignore on at his "home" track.

Produced all his best recent form on Fibresand and his last three starts on turf after a break have shown little to make him of interest here. 6lb higher than his lat winning AW mark and looks to face a tough test in this competitive affair.

A new stable and a wind op may have opened up some new opportunities and his two starts so far for this yard (particularly his debut) have offered something to work on. Now switched to the AW (first-time) off a career-low mark; note market support.

Completed a hat-trick in handicaps last summer in slightly lesser grade than he faces here but does look capable of holding his own in this company given his reappearance. Shaped well there; should hold his own returned to the AW off another break.

Dropped 10lb from his initial rating and that proved enough to see him of the mark on his course debut over 7f staying on well against his own age group. Now takes on his elders returning to the AW having failed to impress on turf last time.

Had his consistency rewarded since joining this yard when winning at Beverley (7f) with a first-time visor looking to be a help to his effort. Softer ground and taking on older horses last time he ran poorly off 5lb higher; questions to answer now.

Twice a course winner over sprint trips his best effort this year came here in a claimer when he was having a rare try at 7f (set a strong pace). Not really firing on all cylinders this year and hard to see him staying a mile even if he was in form.

Winner of an apprentice handicap over 7f in a much lower grade he held his form well after that until disappointing when last seen on Fibresand in March, the higher grade (0-80) finding him out. Returns now off the back of a wind op; best watched.

Found a race run to suit when getting off the mark here over 7f last August showing improved form in first-time cheekpieces; not seen again until this year. Not quite herself in both starts this year (race run to suit last time); could bounce back.

Forecasts

Jumira Prince (9/2), Instant Attraction (5/1), Island Sound (6/1), Lawmaking (8/1), Newmarket Warrior (9/1), Chaucer's Tale (10/1), Intense Style (11/1), Angel's Acclaim (12/1), Desert Dream (14/1), Moltoir (16/1), Chaplin Bay (20/1), Im Dapper Too (40/1), Aprovado (50/1), Shearian (66/1)

Verdict

A competitive start to the card with six course winner going to post with the triple C&D winner NEWMARKET WARRIOR taken to gain another Newcastle win in a race that is working out nicely, should be run to suit and he can reverse that form with Instant Attraction. Chaplin Bay isn’t the easiest to win with but has shown his best form here and will appreciate a return while Lawmaking is another to enter the equation if he’s in the same form as he was at Kempton last time that win coming out of the blue. Desert Dream is possibly the most interesting in the field and lurks on a good mark and any support should be noted.
  1. Newmarket Warrior
  2. Desert Dream
  3. Lawmaking
