Usually runs well here but she has twice failed to make the frame here off a similar mark. Cheekpieces have helped recently, but others remain more attractively weighted.

Looks more progressive than most in this. Showed a decisive turn of foot to score here last time and may have had more in hand than the handicapper has adjudged.

Seems to reserve his best for Brighton these days. His last three starts have been below-par and a headgear combination not tried in three years is employed.

Slipping down the weights with good cause. Connections will be hoping he can return to the form which produced two solid efforts in January. Stable are without a winner in three months so that has to be considered unlikely.

Eight-time AW winner but yet to win over this far. Particularly poor on last three starts and looks opposable.

Her three best efforts have come with give in the ground. Her worst came on Polytrack so obvious concerns here.

Hit a purple patch last summer but lightly raced since and nowhere near those same levels despite a plunging mark.

Geranium13

Took a big step forward last time and now tackles a trip more in line with her pedigree. Potentially on a good mark and worth checking how she stands in the market against stable companion Hilight.

Posted four fair efforts here before a tame effort on turf last time. Still has a bit to find at the weights.

13-race maiden had been running to a consistent standard until finishing tailed off last time. The ground was particularly quick that day and she is best judged on earlier efforts including her best which was over today's trip.

Hilight11
Age: 3|  Weight: 9-2| J: Charlie Bennett(3)| T: H Morrison| OR:  62

No surprise to see her take a step forward when sent handicapping. Just found a progressive rival too good last time and gets to race off the same mark from a good draw. Yard also have another leading contender in Geranium

All three handicap wins have come off ratings of 50 or less. Sent off favourite on stable debut last week but others are potentially better treated.

Not as good nor as consistent as he was. Has a good draw to exploit and a decent gallop would help.

Noble Gesture114
Age: 3|  Weight: 8-10| J: P Mathers| T: Jane Chapple-Hyam| OR:  56

Has improved with each run and now drops in class/trip for handicap debut. No surprise to see a big leap forward and one to monitor in the market.

Forecasts

Divine Messenger (5/2), Stringybark Creek (4/1), Hilight (6/1), Crystal Casque (15/2), Connemera Queen (8/1), Geranium (9/1), Bookmaker (14/1), Polar Light (16/1), Good Luck Charm (20/1), Makhfar (20/1), Athassel (25/1), Noble Gesture (33/1), Bridge Of Sighs (33/1), The Bear Can Fly (50/1)

Verdict

Hughie Morrison holds a strong hand with both Geranium and Hilight open to further progress off attractive marks. The market is worth monitoring to see how they stand against each other and for reaction to the booking of Oisin Murphy on the former. Noble Gesture is a potential improver off a low mark, but the vote goes to DIVINE MESSENGER who has been progressive and landed a similar contest in impressive style. He looked a cut above this level that day and it will take a good one to beat him.
  1. Divine Messenger

  3. Geranium
